Referees for kids

Post by Zardle » Mon Nov 13, 2023 5:29 pm

Hi,

I am applying for my two kids (one is 3 and one is 6) citizenship with my application. Can their referees be the same as my referees (one is a Professor and one is an Associate Professor)? Not sure whether it will be an issue as "Where the applicant is a child applying, one referee should be a professional who has engaged with the child in a professional capacity, such as a teacher, health visitor, social worker or minister of religion".

Besides, since I am applying online, for the question of "AN form", should I say no?

Many thanks in advance.

Not sure whether it will be an issue as "Where the applicant is a child applying, one referee should be a professional who has engaged with the child in a professional capacity, such as a teacher, health visitor, social worker or minister of religion". Those are the requirements for children's registration MN1 - Form AN is for adult naturalisation. Many applicants are having problems with this as professionals working with children don't want to share their personal details! UKVI are aware of this and if you are having problems you can use your own referee, as long as they know your children. Include a note that you couldn't provide referees as required. Not an issue

Besides, since I am applying online, for the question of "AN form", should I say no? Which question?
Note that when you add your children to your application the system will adjust to form MN1!
Many thanks in advance.

Many thanks.

For the AN form question, it is "Are either of the parents of the child (as stated in this application) applying for naturalisation as a British citizen on an AN form?"
My wife is not applying for citizenship at this moment. Only yes or no these two options for this question.

Many thanks.

So "NO" is correct.
