Renewal for ILR

Post by ASIMSHAD » Tue Aug 16, 2022 11:50 am

I hold an ILR, It's been almost 10 years now and going to expire on 29th January 2023.How much time do these take to be renewed. I came here on spousal visa and have been working here since last 10 years. travel a lot due to work so am a little worried if I send my BRP (Settlement) and my passport to them how much time does this takes.

Thanks
Asim

ILR status is permanent and it does NOT expire, only the card does. So you need to get a new card with a new expiry date (just like you get a new bank card) All BRP cards ever issued by the UKVI are only valid until the end of 2024. BRPs are being totally phased out in 2024 (replaced by digital proof of status)
If your BRP expires on 31 December 2024
You do not need to tell UKVI if your BRP expires on 31 December 2024 but your immigration status (for example, your visa) allows you to stay longer.

You will not need a BRP from 1 January 2025. You’ll be able to prove your immigration status online, without a BRP.

UKVI will update their information on how to prove your immigration status in early 2024. You do not need to do anything and your immigration status will not be affected.
