Replacement of Visit Visa

Post by Newstarter07 » Thu Aug 20, 2020 9:43 am

Hi,

My parents applied for visit visa to come uk for couple of months to visit us. They were suppose to come on 28th March and suddenly lockdown started. They had to cancel flights and cancel the visit to uk.

Their visa is expiring on 3rd September. Is there any replacement visa available for visit visa which are unused? Or else they have to apply for fresh visa again? Please guide me.

Thank you
N

There are no provisions to ‘extend‘ a visa from outside the U.K. Extending a visitor visa from inside the U.K. is disproportionately expensive.

Applying for a new visitor visa from outside the U.K. should be okay. There’s no harm in asking the ECO to waive or refund the visa fee because of holder’s inability to use the previous visa due to travel restrictions during the pandemic. But they may not have the discretionary powers to comply with the request.

Hi Charu,

Unfortunately not a good reply. They do not exempt. May be we need to apply for visa again with full fees.

Also looks like they cannot travel as of yet. They are only taking passengers who qualify air bubble agreement between 2 countries.

Please do let me know if you find any information for the same.
