Residence permit process for Germany

Post by boza1812 » Fri Jul 06, 2007 8:02 pm

Hi,

I am from a non-EU country on a WP in UK. I need to apply for my residence permit/ work permit for Germany. I understand that the process takes 8 - 12 weeks.

While my residence permit is being applied for, I would need to travel for business meetings across EU? Can I travel for business meetings to Germany? Can I travel for business meetings to other EU countries (France?)?

I currently have a valid multiple-entry French Schengen visa.

Regards

Mate, the process took four and half months for us, the whole process is a freaking nightmare, search this forum for my experience.

I would say you can't travel on business on a Shengen visit visa for Business, but who's gonna know, there's practically no checks in mainland Europe, although that might change with the terrorist situation.

How's you German? Your gonna need it!

Thanks for the inputs.

Though I would find it a bit odd.

If I am applying for a residence permit to Germany, can I not travel to France from business or vacation? (I have a valid France Schengen visa for business and tourism)

If you have the schengen visa now why not. I missed that bit! Your supposed to enter via the country which issued it or at least enter that country on the trip but I don't know how strict they are about it.

i think the problem might be the grey area between 'business' and 'work'. Is a business meeting 'work' in the sense you should be on a work permit to do that. I dunno!

To be explicit about it, when you applied for your current visitors visa, did you mention you would be going for business trips? If so, there is nothing about applying for a residence permit that would prevent you in the mean time from traveling for business.
