residence requirements for British citizenship

Post by silo » Fri Jan 15, 2010 6:13 pm

hello everyone,

As I'm applying for British citizenship so I'm asked to give evidence of lawful residence during the January 2007 until August 2008. At that time Idid not have passport, but I was present in the UK. I did go to my GP to write letter for me stating that I have been seeing him during tis time continuesly but hi refused to do it. I went to Dallas court where I have been reporting either they refused to do it they told me they do not have access for such thing. So I would be grateful if someone could help me on this matter and advise me where should I go to proof this residence. thank you in advance

Were you present in the UK during that period lawfully?

If so, on what basis?

I came with visa in 2001 then in January 2002 I claimed asylum but I was refused and all appeals were dismissed. I used to report at Dalas court until I have been granted ILR in 13 August 2008 under compassionate circumstances

The fact that all your appeals were dismissed and you were made to report makes me think that you were considered to be an overstayer up till the moment you were granted ILR. This means your lawful stay would start in August 2008.

I would suggest you seek professional advice.

See Residential Requirements
have not been in breach of the immigration rules at any stage during the three-year period
Overstaying is breach of immigration rules.
