Route to ILR, over ten years but with a gap

Post by confusedaboutvisa » Mon Jan 09, 2012 9:32 pm

Hi all,

Can anyone help please?

I was on a student visa Oct 1999 to June 2001.
Then returned to home country
Returned on student visa Oct 2003 until December 2007 (but leave to remain valid until Jan 2008)
Then returned on work permit March 2008 to Oct 2010
On unmarried partners visa valid from Oct 2010 to Oct 2012.

As far as I can see, the only way for me to get ILR is to wait until Oct 2012 as the gap from June 2001 to Oct 2003 is too long? I just wanted to see if anything was possible as I'm afraid of the new rules coming in April about family migration.

It was never a problem previously but the rules are getting worse now and it's getting difficult to open bank accounts and take bank loans!!

A single gap of over six months is too long.

Thanks! :) That's what I thought, guess I will just have to wait and cross my fingers in April.
