Rules on entry/re-entry for British Overseas Citizen?

Post by gollywood » Wed Aug 27, 2008 12:57 am

Hi

Quick question.

I know a British Overseas Citizen Passport holder can enter the UK - for up to 6 months.

But when they return to their home country, how long before they can return to the UK?

Is there any ruling on this? Or are they free to reapply and return as long as their passport is valid?

I believe they are, but it is up to the immigration officer to decide whether to admit the person or not. If the immigration officer decides that the passport holder is not visiting the UK but is in effect living in the UK on the visitor entry permit, then entry may be refused or (possibly) permitted for a shorter time. I can't think that, say, a week's stay in the UK followed by a re-entry a month later would be a problem. But a six months' stay followed by a re-entry a week later might well be.

So a visit lasting 3 months (for example)...followed by another visit 3 months later wouuldnt be a problem.

There is no intention of living in the UK - she doesnt like the UK! Just visits to see daughters & grandchildren!
