Russian transit visa in Sheremetyevo needed?

Post by ca.funke » Fri Apr 08, 2011 11:39 am

Dear all,

I am Belgian, wishing to fly Zürich-Moscow-Beijing (ZRH-SVO-PEK) and return. All flights in SVO are handled in F(2) terminal.

Do I need a transit-visa for Moscow/SVO?
Aeroflot wrote:At Sheremetyevo-F(2), transfer passengers with tickets for the next leg(s) of their flight and documents required for entering the third country(-ies) may obtain a Russian transit visa. For more details about the visa requirements and cost, please contact your local Russian Embassy or consulate in advance (prior to the flight).
From this I gather a visa is needed

Additional Information:

- Passengers are required to hold return/onward tickets and
documents required for the next destination.

- Valid visas in expired passports or other expired travel
documents are not accepted.
From this I gather a visa is NOT needed
Does anyone know? I just tried to ring the Aeroflot-office in Zürich - no reply...

Was some years back and I can't remember what terminal it was but I (and our baby daughter) had no problem going to transit. Quite in contrast to my Russian wife who was forced to go out and re-enter through security for some obscure reason... There is also this information from the airport web page.

Hi 86ti,

always good to hear from you!

Thanks for the link to the airport-website! I guess it should be OK without visa then... :)

For 30 EUR´s more and slightly worse times I can go with Turkish via Istanbul, at least that´d be total peace of mind visa-wise.

Will see, thanks again for the link!
