Schengen visa for 3rd country national family member of EU

Post by cullen_85 » Fri Feb 19, 2010 9:57 pm

Hi all...i have gone through the EU website a million times...but i still have some doubts
Well i am an Indian citizen, 24 years old, but i am completely (mainly financially) dependent on my parents who are british citizens. I am studying in Russia.
Since i am a visa national i will need schengen visa to visit any of the schengen countries. According to what i read from the EU website i understand that
> As a family member of an EU citizen, i need to submit only the following documents for a schengen visa
1) passport
2) birth cert - to show that i am related to the EU citizen
3) evidence of dependence - can this be a letter from my parents??

IS THIS CORRECT...

even in the application form it says that i dont have to fill in certain details regarding transportation n accomodation proofs

and do i have to pay for the schengen visa??

any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated...thanks

In that case u cannot use EEA rules or dependency thereon, u'll have to apply as urself individually, as under UK rules u r not a dependant (and it doesn't matter anyway for Schengen purposes).

So you will need to prove you have accommodation booked, flights and pay the visa fee.
