Post by brokenangel88 » Mon Jul 07, 2014 10:42 am

Hi,

Need some advice please.

I am british born, and my husband has ILR for the UK,

we need to attend a wedding, my sisters wedding, in Greece in October 2014.

How do we apply for a schengen visa and what documentation will we need?

any help would be appreciated.

Thankyou.

(Casa, not CR001)
Please don't send me PMs asking for immigration advice on posts that are on the open forum. If I haven't responded there, it's because I don't have the answer. I'm a moderator, not a legal professional.

Should be straightfoward (though I gave no experience with the Greeks myself) :
- apply direcly at the embassy, instructions are on the we site. VFS and TLS are optional for all applicants as per EU Schengen rules.
- Apply as family of EU/EAA national, the visa should be free, without hassle and minimum documentation. You will need to proof that you are married (marital papers, may wish to get them legalized by the country that issued them and officialy translated if the Greeks cannot read the original language), passport (copy) of you and your spouse, an indication that you will travel together (short statement from you, on the form write under reason of travel "other: joining UK spouse to Greece". Optionally include flight ticket reservation so there can be no doubt. Questions with a * can be left unanswered (hotel booking, insurance, funds, ..).
-- further info should be on the website of the Greek embassy.
-- read the EU webpage (not all EU embassies apply the rules correctly so it's good to verify their instructions with info from the EU):
http://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/tr ... dex_en.htm
-- read the freedom of movement act "2004/38/EC" http://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/ ... 32004L0038
