Schengen visa problem - Netherlands and Denmark

Hi

I hold an Indian passport and I was issued a single entry Schengen visa by Netherlands for the period 13th May to 26th August, 2008. I leave Netherlands on July 14th and return to India for my convocation and make another trip to Denmark on August 1st. However, as it is single entry I can't enter Denmark again. I spoke to the Danish embassy and they suggested I ask the Netherlands embassy to issue a multiple entry visa. Originally, in my application, I had applied for multiple entry. However, the netherlands IND office says that they can't judge if my trip to Denmark is necessary or not.

What should be my course of action?

Is not your 3 months stay per 6 month period over with anyway?

I would have stayed in Netherlands for a period between May 18 to July 14th. That would be around 57 days. So, would I not have another 33 days left?

Yes I see your point, so you would have to ask NL to modify your visa for another single entry. If you can't convince them to change it, then you are out of luck. Don't understand your point with denmark. You are leaving for convocation so if you wish to re enter Schnegen it is irrelevant whehter Denmark is an important visit, it is about you going to india to leave schnegen.

So, how would I convince them to give me a multiple entry. They can't seem to see the point of me going to Denmark as a reason for multple entry.
