Schengen visa - same visa good for training and tourism?

Post by schmack » Tue Jun 30, 2009 1:00 pm

Hi all,

I live in the UK and have an ILR for the UK and married to a UK national.

I have a 2 yr schengen type c multi entry visa for schengen states.

I used this visa to visit few schengen countries on holidays recently.

Now with work related trip I need to go to another schengen country for training and I was wondering if the same visa stands good for the training/business purposes.

All it says on the visa is Type C- Multiple entry

Thanks in advance,

Did you get the visa for free because you are the family member of an EU citizen?

Does the visa indicate you are a family member of an EU citizen?

How long is the training and in which country?

The answer is unclear.

The family likely should be travelling together.

But you can apparently not get a new visa because you have the unexpired old visa.

And in any case it is unlikely anyone will give you grief.

I would, for peace of mind, have the EU spouse keep their passport with them. This is a small continent. They could always, when called, fly out to the same city to enter with the non-EU spouse. Unlikely to be needed, but it may provide peace of mind.

thanks for the replies

i checked with couple of friends who went to germany on training on business schengen visa and it said the same thing on their visa sticker

all it had was type c - multi entry visa, no mention of business visa or not

so I suppose when the visa is issued you need specify whether ur frist trip is tourism or business and then during the validity of the visa, u can enter anyways and it should be good. does that sounds reasonable?

I, personally, would go ahead. But it is an unclear area.
