Schengen Visa Waiver Issue

Post by littlelady_ » Thu May 06, 2010 3:09 pm

Hello all - sorry if this has been posted before, I've done a fair bit of searching though (here and on embassy websites) and can't find an answer. Any help would be great =)

I'm an Australian citizen living in the UK on a 2 year visa (a little over a years validity left). On the 22nd of April (this year) I entered the Schengen area for a few days, and am intending to do a fair bit of travelling between now and when the 6 month period ends.

If I've done my research right, I get 90 days visa-free travel through the Schengen area in a 180 day period (which, in my case, began on the 22nd of April) so that should end some time in November I think. My question is - so long as I haven't overstayed (I can't, I'm in a steady job and only get 20 days paid leave) or anything - is it ok to begin another 180 day period straight after the first ends? Basically I wanted to spend the next Dec & Jan in France (my s/o is French, so I would be travelling around meeting the family and learning a bit of the language etc). I can't find a definitive answer anywhere! Do I assume because they only mention upto the 180 days, a new six-month period can begin regardless?

Any words of wisdom much appreciated =)
