Re: Do I need to amend my certificate?

Hello everyone. I have received my amended certificate. It only took 2 weeks. They amended the main bit on my first name which was the letter E to an I But they did not add a hyphen on my surname. Is a hyphen important? It's on my British passport, drivers license. I called the home office the guy t...

Re: Do I need to amend my certificate?

My solicitor has sent my request today to the HO I think I'm going to regret this. The passport office told me I can just do a deed poll. I don't want to wait months for the HO to change one single letter on a certificate I hardly ever look at. I'm going to wait 3 months if I get nothing I will with...

Re: Do I need to amend my certificate?

The worst case scenario is I get prison and my citizenship gets revoked which means I'll become stateless alien ufo in a British prison.

My life is over. I give up.

I'll just give it all to the solicitor and she can do whatever she wants.

Re: Do I need to amend my certificate?

My solicitor advised me i can do a deed poll which will revert my name back to how it is in the misspelled certificate of registration. Or amend the certificate. Or do nothing. She highly suggests I do the amendment. I'll just do that...and live 6 months of waiting in anxiety. I'll ask my doctor for...

Re: Do I need to amend my certificate?

I'll just do what my solicitor advises and just amend the damn certificate.

Realistically it will probably take 6 months for them to do it for me...so that will be 6 months of me in constant anxiety. :x

Re: Do I need to amend my certificate?

Do you mean I can do my own deed poll as evidence of a passed name change?

If I can't backdate it...would it still be acceptable evidence?

I'm feeling really scared now.

Re: Do I need to amend my certificate?

Just spoke to the passport office again by phone.

They told me I can either do a deed poll OR get my certificate amended as future evidence....If required.

Which one do I do?

Re: Do I need to amend my certificate?

^Back in 2004 (when I changed the spelling on my passport to as It is on my birth certificate) I didn't have any records. My only ID was the child passport. (With the spelling mistake). What I'm really concerned about isn't the certificate itself because...but the passport spelling change in 2004 to...

Re: Do I need to amend my certificate?

^She did demand money and then told me ''I cant advise you anymore more im afraid'' when I told her about me doing a deed poll. I think im going to ignore what she said. The passport office told me they were more relaxed in 2004 and they can make minor name changes regardless. But do you think I sho...

Re: Do I need to amend my certificate?

Re: Do I need to amend my certificate?

If I was to do a deed poll dated at 2004 (when I changed/corrected my name on my passport) then would that not solve the problem?
You can generate a deed poll dated at anytime apparently.
