Re: Child registration with parent Citizen via Descent after their birth

Hello, I hope this message finds you. I was successful in registering my children for citizenship under 3(1) when their father was NOT yet registered as a UK citizen at the time of birth. Their father registered under 4C after their birth. Look on page 18-19 on the guidance of how to register a chil...

Re: Unexpected Document Request MN 3(1)

I got the certificates of naturalisation today! In case anyone can learn from my case: In response to the request, I sent tax documents for their grandfather showing his residence as well as the children's father's transcripts from university, and the children's expired passports. I included a long ...

Sorry to be spam-y. I'm stressed and still looking through my own information. What I posted above was not part of the main form. I included it as a support document. Unexpected Document Request MN 3(1)

Hello, Background: I submitted an application for my children's registration under 3(1) discretionary route as they have lived in the UK for 3 years, however aren't eligible under 3(5) as their father didn't receive citizenship by descent until after their birth. This is because when my husband was ...

Re: New Application - Professional Referee Information Required by Form

I think some of the confusion is referring to the referees as first and second -- I'll just call it the professional referee -- sorry about that! Also, it seems you are working from form AN while I'm working on MN1. You state your form asks the question as Does your referee have a British passport?(...

Re: New Application - Professional Referee Information Required by Form

Thank you, Ancestor. However, I don't see where the second referee must hold a passport if British. Clearly the form is structured that they must have passport if British, however my understanding of the guidance was that only the non-professional referee needed to be a UK passport holder. At this p...

Re: New Application - Professional Referee Information Required by Form

For the second referee it asks if they are a British citizen. If 'yes' is clicked it won't let you move on without entering their passport number. In the section header it does not mention a passport for the second referee. I'm guessing this is a mistake in creating the form, and was hoping this com...

Re: New Application - Professional Referee Information Required by Form

Thanks for the reply. It won't let you move to the next screen without entering a passport number for both referees. This is frustrating as it states only the first reference needs to be a passport holder. I'll just ask and hope for the best. As a teacher, I wouldn't like sharing that information, b...

New Application - Professional Referee Information Required by Form

Hi all, I'm working on the online application to register my children as citizens. A few basic questions about the professional referee: The form is requiring a passport number for both referees, but I'd rather not ask that of their teacher. How have others handled this? Can I just put in 123456789?...

Section 3(1) registration should lead to British citizenship otherwise than by descent.
Amazing. Thank you for your guidance! I will follow up as we move through the process!

Re: Registering Child as British Citizen: MN1 section 3(5)

Thank you for following up! :D Do you happen to know if it 3(1) is for citizenship by descent, or otherwise than by descent?

I would hate for the kids to miss out on 'otherwise than by descent' as I believe they could get that if we wait for my ILR/citizenship in a couple years.

If this is the case, can you give any guidance on how to go about this?

Re: Registering Child as British Citizen: MN1 section 3(5)

How did the parent acquire BC by descent? Was it via the Romein route? He was born in the 70s to a British mother and US father in the US. He gained BC by descent in 2015. I can't remember which form he used off the top of my head, but can look it up if it helps. Does this clarify his route to citi...

Registering Child as British Citizen: MN1 section 3(5)

Hello, As my children were born abroad to a parent who now has UKC by descent and we have now lived in the UK for three years, I am hoping to register the children as citizens using form MN1 section 3(5). Especially the Family Application VAF4A, do I need to print it and fill it out? Or since I'm applying from the US was the...
