Hi British, After going thru your previous posts, now I realise that the 4 in your 220*4 is for no. of renewals. I mistakenly read it as the no. of applicants. :) The 4 in my formula (215*4) -(165*4) is for no. of applicants. Sorry for any confusion. Anyway, the fee for PIO card is £215. And I won't...

British wrote: the savings of 220*4 - 165 = £715 (in my entire life time) is very very small cost to me
Just a little correction in the above calculation.
The correct one is:
(215*4) - (165*4) = £200

Hi OCI, The best thing would be to write the Name of Applicant as it appears on her/his British passport. The PIO card issued will have the same name and it will be identical to the name on passport. This certainly will avoid any harassing questions at the Indian Immigration. Also you need to submit...

I feel so relieved. :D

I am giving the time line for one of my friends. He applied for OCI on 24/02/06. OCI was granted some way around 09/03/06. Received the letter from HCI to collect OCI card 29/03/06. He collected it some day last week. And I am still waiting to hear about my OCI card (applied 6/2/06, Granted 21/2/06)...

Congratulations, OCI! Our lot of OCI applications seem to be delayed for some reason. My friend and myself applied on the same day at HCI London. We both are granted on the same day, but haven't heard from HCI about our OCI cards. One of our other friends, who had applied three weeks after us, have ...

Jaihind,
Are you sure about the dates?
22 Jan 2006 was on a Sunday and 11th March was on a Saturday.

That gives me an impression that HCI (London?) works on weekends also.
Is that true?

Jaihind,
For the benefit of the board members, can you please post your time-line for OCI?
e.g. Date of application, which embassy (London/B'gham, etc), Date Granted, Date of letter received from HCI, Date when OCI sticker pasted on your passport, etc.

Thanks.

I agree that it may be almost impossible to reverse the rule, but you should not go down without fighting.

Let your rage be heard.
At least that will make the lawmakers think twice when they make any such stupid rules next time.

I feel really sorry for all the people who have been affected by this. I know some one who was due to apply in May first week. This is really disgusting! I really think this is just another ploy for them to make more money firstly because people on work permit can't apply for any beneiftsnot that th...

As instructed by the HCI, I will have to wait for 12 weeks before contacting them. And that's what I have decided to do. I am also in touch with a couple of persons who applied at the same time as me and whose OCI status changed to Granted on the same date as mine. And none of us have heard anything...

Hi Guys,
Just to keep you updated on the progress of my OCI application, I still haven't received any communication from HCI, London. :x

But my gut feeling tells me that the time, when I would hear from HCI, London, is approaching closer.

I will inform you when that happens.

Here is the Q and A doc 1. What are the main changes to obtaining settlement in the UK and whom will they affect? The main change is that the qualifying period, that is the amount of time that has to be spent lawfully being here, is being increased from 4 years to five years. The only people affecte...

So the 3 month time frame might still hold true.

But now I am expecting it to take less than that.

I've been doing the online status check daily using my Ref. No. as the first thing in the morning. It has started showing 'Under Process' from 7th Feb (i.e. a day after I submitted my application). It also shows my File No. It seems that I can do the online status check using either of the Ref. No o...

Thanks, basis. It is always better to carry extra documentation than asked for. You never know what they might ask. They might have asked for copies of Naturalisation certificate in connection to a question on PArt B. It asks you to write the date and method of your present citizenship i.e. By desce...
