Timelines for Postal Applications

Hi, Has anyone, who has applied by post, received their OCI recently? Could you please advise what the timelines for turnaround were. I'm seeing on this forum that applications over the counter are being turned around in 3-4 weeks but don't know if postal applications are taking any longer? Regards

Thanks for sharing your experience. I agree there is inconsistency every where because some have submitted 35*35, you submitted 35*45 (standard passport size) and I got a reply from NIC that it should be 51*51. I think I'll go with 51*51 and attach the email from NIC in case they consider rejecting....

reply to all queries: They only ask for active passport, not a passport which has already been cancelled by HCI. Not true you have to surrender ALL passports including ones already cancelled. Yes, I have heard the same. You are better off gettting a long term visa (5 years) but you need a surrender certificate before you can apply for one. I could see this requirement on the VFS website.

Hi Sachin,

Thanks for the response. To re-confirm, the enclosures I need are:

a. Photocopies of british passport
b. Valid Indian Passport (and its photocopies)
c. Naturalisation certificate (is this reqd. if photocopies of british passport are provided?)
