As I was on DL visa & under immigration control we thought I cant apply for benefits .as my husband was out of job he applied for benefits for himself & our son

Can anyone pls help bcos I'm so worried
Can I just inform the council & payback the money
My husband was taking care of our son while I was working away frm our home
I just come back home in the weekends
