Naturalisation - referees

Hi, My husband (Moroccan) and I (British citizen) have started looking into getting him citizenship through naturalisation, as he will have been in the UK 3 years at the end of this month (ILR granted last Feburary). The form seems straightforward enough, but we did have one query about referees. We ...

Re: About to apply for husband's ILR, prior to the

I have asked already (ca. 1 month ago by phone AND at the counter) and the Nationwide will not issue me with ANYTHING - statement or confirmation-wise. What are the remaining alternatives? Certified copy by a sollicitor? My original question was about sending in a photocopy of the book plus contact ...

Re: About to apply for husband's ILR, prior to the

Yep perfectly acceptable but she makes it sound like it is mandatory . It is not which is why I couldn't understand why she was getting hung up on it . I have halifax too and that's right you get a letter once a year so you have to deal with it or without it. Sure, it isn't mandatory. She can't ...

1. I have an ISA account with the "Nationwide". This is a book account and I have called "Nationwide" to check but they don't issue statements except the annual statement in March/April. Normally people send in bank statements of their current account, not their ISA account SYH, going back to this ...

OK, get the application in the post .... obviously use Special Delivery .... on Wednesday or Thursday this week .... and do pay by cheque ... and not by card. On those dates you should not encounter a problem, for the reasons previously set out. Thanks John, we did intend to post Wed. or Thurs. by ...

Please post the date of expiry of the visa, and the date it was first used to enter the UK. Hi John, I think is was actually you that responded to my initial post a while back re. this. This new post was merely intended to ask a few questions about the actually application. Visa issued: 24/01/2006 ...

Well I didn't see your explanation to that earlier so I guess you don't have a choice or it will not be an in time application, there are other threads on this regarding the judiciousness and the strategies involved for situations like this one so I suggest you use the search function Sorry, should ...

Re: About to apply for husband's ILR, prior to the

As my husband is of course non-EU and wasn't in employment when we got here, we had to register everything in my name and with my bank details. We therefore don't have much in both our names. We do have sufficient documents addressed to us individually at this address but I wondered whether it would ...

2 years minus 28 days "rule"... Many thanks for the info provided last year when I asked about doing this when difference of just a few days. In the meantime, we have the form ready to complete and all the necessary documentation, and I am getting nervous! I do have a couple of questions though that ...

Read up on the ppron method - your husband can apply (outside the uk) for uk citizenship on the third anniversary of his first entry into the uk legally (even if he was a visitor). Hi, Thanks for the tip. If the worst comes to the worst, we can always look into this! My question though was really ...

As far as UK visa extension applications are concerned, the date of application is the date of posting! And yes they do keep the envelopes! So if the application was posted ... obviously by Special Delivery (given the importance of the documents) on Thursday 24.01.08 ... even though it will arrive ...

Thanks John, that sounds like a plan! Is it definitely still the case that if we post his application on 24.01.2008, they won't take that date as the date of application - I thought I'd read somewhere it would be considered as date of application? As for the test, no, he hasn't taken it yet, but he ...

Applying on 25th sounds like a plan, obviously only if acceptable. To be an overstayer by 1 day - how typical to be that close to it! Who would you suggest contacting to check this out? Or anyone else reading this any ideas?! I would be grateful to avoid having to pay more than necessary ...

2-Year Spouse Visa - ILR: Extension to Visa Needed?

Hi all, I am hoping that someone will be able to help me out on this one, and perhaps have a solution?! My Moroccan husband (I am British) was issued with his Spouse Visa on 24/01/2006. Visa to expire on 24/01/2008 We entered the UK on 27/02/2006, 35 days after issue of the Visa. Is there any way we ...

EU travel rights

Hi, My (Moroccan) husband has a UK spouse visa. We are living in the UK but previously lived in Germany, where he obtained a permanent Schengen residence/work permit after our marriage. In the next couple of months he will need to go to Germany to defend his PhD thesis. Does he need to apply for a ...

Also, just a thought, will it be of any disadvantage that my husband is completing his PhD and has not been working since end May 2005? Just looking at the application forms and the boxes for information about employment... Am probably being overly paranoid, but it is important to us and our future ...

Thanks. I have had a look at the info for EEA Family Permits and have indeed seen that as an EEA member, my non-EEA member husband is entitled to the same rights as me, but to enter the UK requires the permit in his passport. The procedure seems fairly similar to the spouse visa and of course it is ...

Incidentally, what is your husband going to be applying for? There appear to be two choices. He could apply for a spouse visa, or alternatively an EEA Family Permit (given that you have clearly been exercising your treaty rights for a period exceeding six months). The application fee for a spouse ...
