My wife was issued OCI a few years ago (when she was in her 30s) and has recently got a new passport. I'm confused about the changes to this process. Does she or does not need to renew her OCI?
Sorry for the late replies to this, but replying anyway to help future applicants. The answer is yes! You can attend an OCI appointment with a different application. Firstly you can't book a new appointment if you have an existing appointment as it only allows one appointment per passport number. So...
Yes this will be a problem. I have been rejected at VFS for this very issue before. The photos need to match. You need to make a new application with the new photo.
Hello, I have an appointment for a minor application at London Houndslow. Do I need to take the minor to the appointment or can I submit the application myself as a parent? Thanks! Nah, the minor does not need to attend the appointment. Make sure you and the other parent both sign the minor section...
The category names are pretty much irrelevant. They download all the documents ignoring the heading names. Upload it under any category - one of the unused ones (eg Employment letter).
I made an OCI appointment at VFS Hounslow a while ago for sometime next week. On the appointment form you have to include the File No (along with some other details). Since then I needed to make some changes to the application form so I completed a fresh application. This means I now have a new File...
Amazing, thanks so much kamoe. That's cleared everything up. I'll apply for settled status now and try and get the citizenship app done before the deadline to avoid any confusion. And yes I typed 'S S', meaning Settled Status
Hey kamoe, thanks for this. It makes a lot of sense. I have just a couple of follow up questions then: 1. Yes she is already eligible for citizenship through PR. But if we were to wait (due to lack of funds) until after 30 June 2021, would this mean that we would have to get SS and then wait an extr...
My wife is a French national with PR (this blue paper document called 'Document certifying permanent residence'). Does she need to apply to apply for settled status? The gov website says the deadline for this is 30 June 2021. So her PR will definitely still be valid between 1 Jan 2021 and 30 June 20...
Did you had eea family permit any time? When you goto India or another country don't they stamp you in? Yes they stamp me in everywhere else. I have a lot of stamps, just no UK stamps. I got a 'residence card of a family member of an EEA national' initially, which was valid for 5 years. Not sure if...
As Indian national, you passport is stamp when you come to UK. You can use to as you resident proof.
One of my friends did it. For citizenship and husband is from eea.
Unfortunately not. I checked my passport and I don't have any UK stamps in the last 5+ years.
Can anyone shed some light on this? Do I need to provide passport only as the application says or do I need to provide more (and assume I am being categorised as an EEA national)?
Thanks for replying, really appreciate it! Quick follow up if you don't mind :D Do you have a document certifying PR or do you have Settled Status under Appendix EU?? I have a biometric resident card. But, in the section I quoted they ask for a passport, PR card and "evidence of freedom from immigra...
I have PR (Indian national married to an EEA national) and have been filling out my citizenship application. I have a few questions regarding documents. Very grateful for your help :D The documents page at the end of the application says: You must provide your documents after you submit your applica...
I just received my PR (EEA) as spouse of an EEA national. I intend to apply for citizenship as soon as eligible. My question is: Can I now apply for public funds (child benefits) without affecting my future citizenship application? I recall on the PR application it asks if you've taken public funds,...
If someone could please let me know about the address change for documents that would be great. We're moving out tomorrow and really worried I'll lose my documents.
Did you apply for a Permanent Residence Card under the EEA Regulations (for which you would have paid £65) or did you apply for Settled Status (which would have been free)? If the former, you would have received a letter with the Permanent Residence Card stating the date that you acquired PR on. I ...
I just received my BRP after applying for EEA PR as spouse of EEA citizen...woohooo! Three questions for you fine folk: 1. I haven't received my documents back yet. How long after do they usually arrive? We are moving house on Tuesday (house sale, unavoidable). How do I change address of document re...
I've just done the same thing for my baby, also born British, to me, an Indian national. I did not need to show my birth certificate as his claim to OCI is directly through me being an Indian national. The section that you're questioning is regarding relationship proof (i.e to the family member of I...
Just wanted to give an update on this for future googlers. I called the Home Office a couple more times and asked the same question. I was told that it is indeed fine to travel and that the wording I quoted above is primarily for ILR not PR. They said they do try to dissuade people from travel becau...
