Work references for ACS Skills Assessment

I need to get work references together for an ACS skills assessment. I've run into some complications. Many of my bosses have moved on to other companies. In this situation, is it better to get a Statutory Declaration from them or find somebody (perhaps HR) in the company in question to write a work...

How long between skills assessment and EOI?

I am about to start the process of preparing an ACS skills assessment and then submitting an EOI for Aus Skilled Independent.

It looks like the skills assessment is valid for 2 years. How long can I wait before submitting an EOI?

Ok, thanks for the information. I think my application may have been lost in the mail then.

I will resend it, this time with recorded delivery, so that I can stop worrying if they are processing it or not.

I should have known, *always* use recorded delivery when dealing with immigration.

Processing times - Non-acquisition of British Citizenship

Before I apply for British Citizenship, I would like to apply for retention of my existing citizenship. As part of this, I need proof of non-acquisition of British Citizenship. http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/britishcitizenship/proof-that-you-are-not-british/ Is anybody familiar with this process?...

My circumstances are similar to Akarsh http://www.immigrationboards.com/viewtopic.php?t=87110 It appears that the important sections are 3B and 10G. Im very glad to have some confirmation that my thinking was correct. The form is getting extremely complicated with all the various Visa options and ru...

Is there anybody in similar circumstances planning an application soon or anybody that has recently had a successful application that is able to shed some light on my problem?

ILR HSMP JR - which sections to complete

Hi I am an HSMP/Tier-1(General) migrant (2+3). I was initially granted leave under HSMP and then an extension on Tier 1 under the HSMP JR of 8 April 2008. I am preparing for an ILR application and I am wondering which sections of the application to complete. I have downloaded the latest SET(O) form ...

I am very pleased with the content of this consultation. Not because they are cutting down on immigration (I think economic immigration is good), but because they are finally making the system clearer like other countries. Im glad they have made it very clear that this will only affect new Tier 1 an...

You are right. Its required at the moment. I am getting confused because I started as an HSMP migrant and Im sure there were some transition plans in place where HSMP migrants did not have to pass it. Who knows!? I battle to keep track with the rules changing so frequently! Besides, its irrelevant, ...

If I was you, I would pay for the ILR on a credit card or overdraft. Thats just me, the stress of ILR is killing me. The sooner I get it over with, the better. Life in the UK test was only required for citizenship in the past. Now it will be required for settlement. Buts its really easy anyway, I've...

If I was in your position and could qualify for ILR before 6 April and I had an appointment at PEO before the new rules came into play, I would apply with no hesitation! I would live with a tight budget for a month or 2. I have to sit nervously until November before I can apply, so consider yourself...

I have a strange question concerning HSMP. With HSMP there were 2 stages for the application: Initial Approval and then Entry clearance. Which date applies for these new rules?

What happens if you were granted approval pre Nov 2006, but only got entry clearance post Nov 2006?

I disagree with this argument. I have no problem with the Govt changing the law for new entrants. This makes sense. If the rules are clear at application time and stable for the lifetime of that applicants time in the UK then nobody will be under false assumptions on their future and nobody should ...

ISome of the rules will be challenged in court if it is pass into law and he should know better that any retrospective changes will result in wasting taxpayers money. I disagree that it will be a waste of taxpayers money. Govt lost HSMP case as they effectively gave the incoming migrants a gurantee...

Nobody knows yet. The govt plans to consult on settlement in 'Spring'. You will have to wait for more announcements from the govt once this consultation is over. My guess is that you should be fine waiting for aug/sept to apply for PR as long as you can meet the preliminary tightened criteria mentio...

You can apply no earlier than 28 days before your 2 year period in the UK is completed. 14 March should be fine based on the dates you have given, but you can apply later if its more convenient as long as it is before your visa expires.

Why are we in such a rush? The rules are likely to be more restrictive. If they take longer to come up with the rules, maybe they'll have to delay the implementation date too. And if they do that, more of us will get our extensions or reach ILR before the rule changes come into force. This is very ...
