Re: Local Authority for Ceremony different to home address

I can't remember what was on the form, i.e. whether it asked specifically for a local authority, possibly I could have got confused as we lived in Cambridgeshire many years ago, which is where the ceremony is allocated to. But definitely put our correct home address which isn't in Cambridgeshire. I ...

Local Authority for Ceremony different to home address

My wife finally got her email from HO for invite to ceremony for British citizenship (submitted application 7th November), however the local authority I've been referred to is not where I live, although we are about 1 mile from the border. It is annoying as it harder to get to the venue for the LA I...

Re: Timeline for Schengen France visa

Thanks for reply. I should have posted my outcome, which was 6 month multiple entry visa given in just over a week from the TLS centre appointment date, that was end of May. Although it took a long time at visa centre. Crazy process.

Timeline for Schengen France visa

I realise a rather specific question, anyone know how long is it currently taking French embassy to issue short stay visas? (from date of submission at the visa centre) I'm wondering if we need to reschedule our trip later. Might be interesting to know about other countries embassies too and also wh...

Re: TLS France walk in for the appointment

For anyone finding this, a follow up. For me it was very stressful and frustrating. They would not answer the phone, after 5 mins you get told nobody can take call. There is option to get call back, I chose this, I did not get call back (unsurprisingly). I sent message on web form, no response. The ...

Re: TLS France walk in for the appointment

Thanks for the suggestion. I don't have time to keep checking for cancellations so not viable, also not possible to travel to Manchester or Edinburgh for us. I now have another problem, I've moved my trip to June, and created a new application on the gouv.fr site, entered all the details again with ...

Re: TLS France walk in for the appointment

I am in this situation. My wife is Jamaican, has ILR in UK, I am UK citizen, and we want to visit France in mid-April. Before Brexit we didn't need a visa, used the treaty rights as family member. Can't see any appointments until mid-May.

Re: Refused to sit Life in UK test - name issue

While I realise it is almost as futile to argue with those trying to help me, as to follow Home Office procedures... I would like to re-state my case that the requirement is technically 'impossible' to meet in my case. And I'll re-use the text when I write my formal letter(s)... Written at the top f...

Re: Refused to sit Life in UK test - name issue

Hi thanks for that, however re the passport there is nothing to be changed, I don't believe. My wife has asked her mother and her name is in exactly the same format, so I am fairly sure the answer to my question 1 is yes this is normal for Jamaica passport. So there is nothing to be changed on the p...

Re: Refused to sit Life in UK test - name issue

Hello and thanks for reply. I'd still be interested to know question 1 whether it's normal for name to appear like this. In reply to your reply, surely you have to register the booking of the test in the correct name? i.e. matching the application, or next thing I will find is ILR could be refused b...

Refused to sit Life in UK test - name issue

My wife had a LIUK test booked, we specified passport as proof of identity as Biometric residence card has expired now (couldn't get a test slot before current visa expiry, but submitted application for ILR before expiry). We registered under her name, lets say it's Helen Angela Smith, with Smith be...

Re: **** COVID19 Life in the UK and English test centre closure **** (ONLY discuss here)

Thanks for the replies. Hopefully last question. I have answered No to have you taken LIUK test and No to being exempt. I was surprised it didn't ask for more information at this point. I have got to the payment/sumbit application stage of the online application and I can't see anywhere to provide '...

Re: **** COVID19 Life in the UK and English test centre closure **** (ONLY discuss here)

I have booked a test for early September as that is all I could get at Luton and it didn't show blue for any others indicating availability at any other centres. If I'd tried booking earlier I would likely have got an earlier test date, but I didn't. The current visa expires early August. Therefore ...

Re: **** COVID19 Life in the UK and English test centre closure **** (ONLY discuss here)

This thread is quite long, I've tried to scan read it, some posts seem to be veering off-topic. What is most important to me and probably others is clarity on what to do if you cannot get a LIUK test before the date of your visa expiry. I've seen the advice to submit application before test is taken...

Life in UK tests availability

I went to book an appointment for Life in the UK test, for a settlement visa (5 year route). I chose test centre Luton, it showed nothing available for over a month and the first one was 23rd August, apparently all the dates greyed out before then means nothing at *any* test centres? Is this COVID r...

Re: Spouse Visa Rejected, Stupid reason, Appeal vs Reapply?

I suggest new application, then if necessary civil court action to reclaim costs of failed application and potentially consequential losses - I'm not sure of the law on the latter part - however I intend to find out when I take a civil case against HO for a previous failed application! (and they los...

Re: Traveling to Europe with spouse

If it's an EU country, you don't need a visa, but suggest you take your marriage certificate with you, and be ready to 'explain the rules' to airport staff and other officials. For example French embassy website says you need a visa, in contradiction to EU law, we turned up at St Pancras Eurostar wi...

Start a small claims civil action to recover the money? Anyone care to comment on success of this in the past? I know it's may not be that quick but might focus UKVI minds on getting a correct decision.

Re: Visa options with UK citizen child

I object to having to submit private/personal information to authorities when they have no need of it. I also believe this is a breach of basic principles of law about not holding irrelevant information. These are the questions which I don't see the need to answer with regard to my young son: What i...

Re: Visa options with UK citizen child

I am questioning the right of the Home Office (or any organisation) to 'require' you to submit personal information that is (or appears to be, as far as I can see, correct me if I'm wrong regarding the child information) irrelevant and unnecessary to making a decision. The Home Office don't set the ...

Ok I've read this again properly. I would guess (although I'm not one of the experts here, despite accusations to the contrary!) that he can apply once you have the 6 months payslips. So if that is say 4 months from now, he can apply in 4 months, from Pakistan. How soon would he need to leave? We ap...

Re: HELP! Husbands visa rejected!! Need advice ASAP!

Why would it take so long for him to return, is it because you don't meet the financial requirements for the spouse visa? In some cases someone has to leave the UK and then can immediately make an application to return (although of course you need to meet the criteria for the visa)

Re: Visa options with UK citizen child

Openly refusing to give information is not deception. And I can't see how the information can be relevant, and organisations are not meant to ask for personal information that is not relevant for the purpose it is being requested for. If they refused for not providing the information I can't see how...

Re: Applying for FLR(M) next week online

I don't see why you can't. I have just started the same thing. However I'm unhappy about all the detailed questions about our (UK Citizen) young son and there seem to be a few more questions on the online application than on the FLR (M) form. I wonder if anyone has a list of all the questions and su...
