In my case, the approval letter doubled up as letter of invitation, so I was asked to contact the council to schedule the ceremony within 21days of reception of the brown envelope. I think it varies from council to council.... Mine too, not sure if that is a new thing, or if it just varies dependin...

Is anyone who applied from 17 to 24th March on this forum still waiting for their approval letter after verbally getting confirmation as to their application has been completed / approved??? I applied on 25 March, and I am still waiting. I have never phoned the Home Office for a status update (what...

Congratulations to all approval recipients. It seems as though all March applications have been considered and decision letters are being sent through. I hope April applicants begin to get some positive feedback soon. Nope, not all March applicants have received a response yet, I am a March applica...

Re: @Ferrari

The problem I have is that I would like to go ahead and do the ceremony (as the council has the certificate), but I am not sure I can do this unless I actually have the approval letter in my possession. Hence the question about whether I need to take the letter to the ceremony with me. Once your lo...

Oh yay!!! The mid-March applicants are getting their approvals now :) Woohoo, hopefully there's only another week or two for me to wait now. Congratulations to those approved already, and commiserations to those of you who, like me, are still waiting. Fingers crossed for news for us soon, huh? I wou...

Should UKBA take long to make my decision, is it okay to travel on my current Indian Nationality. I can get the visa for Europe without any problem and it usually takes no more than 2 weeks as I am a family member of EEA National... But would I be breaking any rules if I go to Europe with my Indian...

I can't believe it's finally time for me to start the Naturalisation rollercoaster! I've already been through the WHV process, then LLR, then ILR, and now this :) Before I applied I read loads of threads on here and figured it was about 3-4 weeks processing time, but since I've applied there are mor...

Dawie, Thanks for your reply. I have said what kind of visa I'm applying for, it's the FLR(M) form I am filling in so it is obviously the Marriage/Spouse visa I'm applying for. I married a Brit. I amm sure I read somewhere that you should wait until your current leave to remain is about to expire, b...

*BUMP*

Please, doesn't anyone know the answer?
Is there a reason I am supposed to wait until 4-6 weeks before my current leave to remain expires before I apply to switch to FLR(M)?

What???????? It COSTS to get the visa stamp put in your passport again, even once you have applied for it and received it?? When should I change my name to my married name?

Hiya all, I have a passport, and a WHV, in my maiden name in my Australian passport. I want to change my passport to my married name, but I also need to apply for FLR(M). Should I change the passport first, or get the spouse visa first? I am thinking it would be better to get the spouse visa in the ...

Should we send forms off now, or later?

Hiya, I'm an Australian citizen currently in UK on a WHV. I've been here since 1 Nov 2004 and my visa expires on 30 Oct 2006. In Dec 2004 I met a great bloke, we moved in together in June 2005 and we got married in Las Vegas in May 2006. We are waiting for the marriage cert to come by post from the ...

You may not have had any probs with immigration while on a student visa prior to now, but what I am saying is this: * The immigration authorities will probably take the stance of "you had 7 years to take a holiday in the UK, why should we give you another 2?" * To take a working holiday in the UK, y...

Look, I'm sorry, but I'm not going to help your friend get assylum. In Australia or anywhere. Perhaps he needs to go get some legal advice. I will repeat tho, seeking assylum in Australia would be foolhardy, expensive, time consuming and pretty harsh. The detention centres are like big jails in the ...

It is very, very difficult to do this in Australia and not many people get approvd, most are deported. Does your friend know he will be placed in a detention centre and held there until a decision is made, or he gives up in frustration and withdraws his application? Do a google search for Australia ...

f22, not sure what kind of work you do, but please note it can be quite hard to get the WP to begin with. They're easy for certain jobs with industry shortfalls, but for other jobs (e.g. a secretary) then the company has to prove that nobody else in the EU can do your job. Thus they need to show pro...

Hiya, I think you may be in for a bt of trouble in getting the WHV approved. You see, you need to prove to the immigration authorities that you have no ties to the UK and that you will return home at the completion of your visa. The fact that you have spent 7 years here as a student means that you d...

According to this post, it suggests that for me to apply for FLR I have to wait until somewhere around the 1-2 months before my visa is to expire. Is this the case? I am an Aussie currently in the UK on a WHV due to expire 30 Oct 06. I am flying to Las Vegas in May to marry my fiance. When we return...

John thanks so much for your fast reply. I think I may be getting confused. On another forum I read someone advise somebody in the same situation as me, that they'd have to apply when they still had 6 months remaining on their WHV. I read the Immigration Rules 284 (i) which I couldn't work out if it...

WHV to Spouse - what's that 6 month rule all about?

Hiya, I'm in the UK on a WHV at the moment. My partner and I are going to marry. At the moment it looks like we'll be marrying in Malta on our holiday in May. We'd return to the UK on May 13 and submit paperwork pretty much straight away for me to switch to Spouse. My WHV expires on 30 Oct, which me...
