Re: Online apps taking preference?

That seems to be the case. I applied last year on paper and it took 49 days for the decision (and it was one of the fastest at the time). My daughter got her approval in 20 days when applied online in January, and my wife has just received her approval 30 days after submitting the online application...

Re: Different name order from foreign passsport.

This is a guide from the U. S. Immigration where they recognise your country's naming system. Look for Malaysia in page 13. https://studyinthestates.dhs.gov/sites/default/files/SEVIS%20Name%20Standards%20User%20Guide.pdf Perhaps if you email them the link it will do. If the US knows about it, I wond...

Re: Help!! Patronymic hell...

I don't think this is an issue about having other names. Rather it is about how the name is written down using different alphabets. Probably you will be ok if you add a cover letter and explain the issue in detail. There have been other people with similar issues and they are aware of it. Dealing wi...

Re: Apply with an ID card for first British passport after naturalisation - is it possible?

However, from messages in this board, applying from abroad for a first passport after naturalisation may be tricky, as the Home Office may infer that you lied about your future intentions in your citizenship application. https://www.immigrationboards.com/british-citizenship/hmpo-questions-naturalis...

Re: Apply with an ID card for first British passport after naturalisation - is it possible?

If you apply within the UK you must send your uncancelled passport. Alternatively, if you apply from abroad, they will accept colour photocopies of all pages. However, from messages in this board, applying from abroad for a first passport after naturalisation may be tricky, as the Home Office may in...

Re: Travel Documents for MN1 under consideration

Applications seem to be dealt with rather quickly these days. MN1 for my daughter took approximately, from application to certificate received in the post, 3 weeks. Then passport applied for and received in one week. Thus all done within one month. Both MN1 and passport application were made online.

Re: British Citizenship - New Online Application

danseb, I was in the same situation with my daughter. I had the 2017 form ready to post but then realised there was a new version the day my wife took it to the Post Office. So, I phoned her when she was in the queue and told her to bring it back with the idea of filling the 2018 version. Finally I ...

@AdInfernos I read somewhere that the "grace" period is 21 days, counting from the 24th of Jan when they updated the form, so you should be fine. Thank you twgal, that gives peace of mind and makes sense, as most people would download the form and take a few days to fill it in, get the referees sig...

I just downloaded and filled in the 2017 form on the 21st and yesterday got my second referee to sign it. I have posted it just today.

Hopefully they will have some discretion on accepting the old form for the first few days.

Yes, you can apply on the basis of section 3(2). But not on the basis that he is stateless because he is not. He will be a dual citizen but please note be will only be British by descent and not able to pass British citizenship to his children of born outside the UK.

Your child is not stateless. He is Spanish by birth. This is so regardless of whether you have applied for a DNI and passport for him in Spain.

The email address you have used takes a long time before they reply. Try nationalitysupportteamFMT@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk on Monday and they will usually respond within hours. That's my experience.

Only issue is very little time till the 26th.

As an EU citizen you are under no obligation to have a passport in order to live in the UK, so I don't see why your EU id card should not be accepted for naturalization.

MN1 online vs MN1 paper form

I have just filled in form MN1 for my daughter and, out of curiosity, did it online too as I thought it might be simpler and quicker. In my experience there are differences both in the questions you have to answer and evidence requested. The positive aspect of the online process is that you are only...
