I think it is a very rare case when HO call the employer. My experience is mostly with indian companies. But haven't heard of a call from HO ( for my WP changes or of my friends. It might happen when HO has doubt about the companies... Could happen with some shady companies that are setup purely for ...

I was selected..
I think you hold a better chance and quick response if it is an in country application. If you are a fresher and applying from out of country it might be delayed and can expect few questions about why they should recruit a fresher from other country...
