Normally money gets deducted in a week's time (as happened with me) but it may take up to 10 days as busy periods come in summer.

Better to do online, cost & time and other factors remain same.
Applying online is better as you can track the process.

I have got a question. I phoned my council several times about booking of a private citizenship ceremony. All the time they ask my details and after that they tell me you have to wait for a message. 15 days are gone since the date I have received my invitation letter. The council didn't send me ...

Better not to claim any.
It should say on your VISA stamp that you are not allowed to any Benefits...
