Not sure whether you have the royal chapa "Ragdha Kiya" that accompanies the word "Cancelled". Your cancelled passport must have those key words on the first and last couple of pages. If you apply for an OCI visa, it comes as a pre-paid service ! Thanks maveli62. I will post it to them tomorr...

That means that they have not yet changed the chapter 14 Annex H to reflec that OCI is not dual citizenship (at least as yet). I think this may take some time as the Home secretary is presently dealing with a larger mess than just errors on a webpage. Annex H was last updated on 16/05/06, before th...

Hey, by the way has any one seen a country issuing visa to its own "citizens"?. Forget politicians, I wonder what training programs those IAS/ IFS guys in the civil service go thru to get internationally publicity of this kind for utter their stupidity on their definition of the word “citizen”? We ...

UKHO - OCI visas

I just feel vindicated in that my contribution to this thread on 4th June has indeed been correctly understood by the UK Home Office now. I hoped that the Indian govt. home ministry would have been clear right at the very start ... but maybe I was hoping for too much. Once a babu .... always a babu ...

Also if you read through fruther, you see that OCI is granted to only those eligible people from the eligible countries which allow some form of dual citizenship. Think about this (Just like the UK govt. does) : Why would the Indian govt. need to say that the other country will have to allow "Dual ...

Nope. In one of the recent news item, British government had announced that one would lose British consular protection if he had any form of citizenship of the country that he/she was in at that time. Unfortunately, even though Indian govt. clearly says the OCI Citizenship is only a lifetime visa s...

Did you ever hear of anything that is NOT legal in India?
If you have heard so, you certainly haven't been there for a VERY long time !

Coming to India with OCI

You may need a little patience when you come to India with your brand new OCI visa. The immig. people in India are not familiar seeing it and so zooming through immig. may not happen first time around. So be prepared.
It took me 5 mins. at the immig. counter, but they were courteous.

It is another way of keeping off migrants - by charging astronomical fees. Actually the fault lies with us - people seeking to immigrate / new immigrants into the UK. We create the demand and hence the UKHO revises the fee structure one way only as it is the quickest, least resistable and incontrov...

So here are a futher 2 questions for you jaihind (if you don't mind) - 1) What time did you getto the HCI to collect your OCI? 2) Were you part of the 15 tokens allowed daily or do you reckon you were over and above the 15 tokens/day. I went at about 9.45am and told them that I've been called to re...

jaihind- when you went to collect your OCI did you have to line up and collect the tokens etc or were you able to walk straight in? thanks You first have to be called or receive a letter from the HCI saying that your OCI is ready for collection. Although the PIO card seems to be more expensive than the OCI?... £215 against £165...?... Less hassle though... Why pay £215 when you can get something for £165? If waiting time is not of the essence, a OCI is definetely a better option. And the OCI is absolutely NO hassle. Part A of the form can ...

Obsolete Restrictions for OCIs

Re: Permanant Residency status rather than OCI

Permanant Residency status rather than OCI

Having read most of the discussion around the issue of OCI, I think the GOI should refer this as Permanant Residency rather than OCI. Permanant Residents have most rights of citizens and that's what it is there for. Most HOs the world over understand this rather than the incomprehensible OCI status....
