I cannot remember what exactly it is called in this situation. JR is usually the process when you have no right of appeal to AIT, so you apply to the High Court. When the Home Office lose the case with AIT, and appeal to the High Court, I am not sure what it is called. Check out the AIT website ...

I'm pretty sure it was a postal application, but I'll check my SAB files again tonight just to make sure.
I guess I have the same issue, as one of my applications was sent by Uni's Adviser on the day of its expiry(31/OCT), even though I handed it in a few days earlier. But on my SAB files, it says the Home Office received it on the following day(01/NOV).
when applying for the ILR based on the 10-year rule. how do they check whether you have not been out of the country for more than 90 days in a single period since Britain don't have the embarkation controls any more?
