Re: Settled Status (new passport)

Hi everyone, Just a quick question. My wife is a US citizen with settled status. Her passport recently expired and she has received her new one and went through the process of updating it on the Home Office website. (She still has her old/expired passport). We are due to travel to the US in a few w...

Re: ILR - Residence CARD renewal !!

I also read an article today in the guardian of a lady from Uganda that has ILR ... Her residence permit expired in April and she had to leave the UK. On the way back -. Ryanair wouldn't let her board ... But a trip to the embassy the next day sorted it. That's the thing - Ugandian citizens don't h...

Re: ILR - Residence CARD renewal !!

If I understand correctly, settled status can be shown in a digital form to UK immigration authorities (if needs be), but as there are no borders between NI and ROI, that should not even be the case where she's asked to produce one. Irish authorities will be fine with letting her in as a tourist (w...

Re: change brc issued under eea to eu settlement

Also the application is free. Download your application form. It could be you selected BRP instead of BRC. I did that the first time. And it charged me £56. So I suspect you’ve done the same. There’s a question where you’re asked what type of application you’re doing and you’re supposed to say chan...

ILR - Residence CARD renewal !!

Hi everyone, My wife has lived in the UK for 6 years - I am an Irish citizen and she is from the USA. She entered the country in 2016 under using an EU Family Permit ... Applied under the EU settlement scheme ... And was given Settled Status in June 2021. When we read the acceptance letter I noticed...

Re: Lost residence card on the brink of Brexit

So when she applies for the EU settlement scheme - she must meet the five year requirement before getting settled status? (On her own and not through me)? I merely meant that the spouse needs to have resided in the UK for five years as the family member of the EEA citizen. So, if the EEA citizen ha...

Re: Lost residence card on the brink of Brexit

She needs to meet the five year requirements on her own before getting Settled Status. Sorry for jumping in here Simon - but could I just clarify what you mean here? My American wife is in the UK as the spouse of an EU national (I'm Irish) ... She has a UK Residence card which expires in 2022. It i...

Re: EU settlement - Non EU family member - CoA and decision time

Hello sp Being Irish national you do not need to go for settlement scheme However you can if you want to. Your wife need to apply as the old BRC will be outlawed as i heard but thats pretty straight forward for brc holders They just need your NI number and they will check your proof of income, work...

Re: EU settlement - Non EU family member - CoA and decision time

Hi folks - I hope I'm posting this in the right place. Apologies if I am not! I am from (and currently living) in Northern Ireland. I renounced my British citizenship in 2016 and brought my non-EU spouse to NI using the EEA family permit route on my Irish passport. Been living here without any issue...

Re: Naturalisation (Northern Ireland)

American-Northern Irish marriage applicant here. IMO, having a straightforward application is meaningless. We diligently planned our application for six years to make sure we had ample documentation. The application is colour coded and sectioned in chronological order. And there it sits month after...

Re: Naturalisation (Northern Ireland)

Usually 3 large and maybe 1 or 2 smaller "filler" ceremonies, the info page originally had 2 more cermonies for this year (in Sept and December) but I can't see the dates anymore according. Brilliant thank you. Also see pasted below and email that I received from the citizenship information helplin...

Re: Naturalisation (Northern Ireland)

You're overthinking it, they give you a list of what's acceptable with the application form and it looks like you have enough, if you don't they'll ask for more. Perfect thank you!!! I'll start gathering it all and apply much earlier than I thought then! One last question - how many ceremonies do t...

Re: Naturalisation (Northern Ireland)

That's just it though - is the evidence that I just listed not "poor" evidence. Which may cast some doubt over the application. One other thing that you're forgetting which shows the legitimacy of your marriage is your daughter. That's true ! I was also thinking of writing a letter along with it. E...

Re: Naturalisation (Northern Ireland)

Thank you so so so much! So if your wife had been able to make the April ceremony, that puts your application timeline at about 18 months. My wife's UK residence card expires on 6th January 2022. As mentioned earlier, my biggest fear is that my wife didn't work for about 18 months after we arrived h...

Also does anyone have any idea on the timeframe for getting a PSNI background check? I have read they are needed for applications from the North.

Re: Naturalisation (Northern Ireland)

Wow !!!! 18-24 months !!! That I didn't know! I thought 12 would be about average !!!! Is that 18-24 months for full completion of the process (ceremony as well) ? I also agree about applying it to those in the North ... The article I read states that a single day outside of the state (so a hop over...

Re: Naturalisation (Northern Ireland)

Don't worry lol no offence taken at all ! That's just it though - is the evidence that I just listed not "poor" evidence. Which may cast some doubt over the application. Surely household bills, pay slips etc for the entirety of the three years would be a much more concrete form of evidence ? Also, d...

Re: Naturalisation (Northern Ireland)

Hi !!! Thanks for the reply! The main reason for holding off is to ensure that my application is as bullet proof as possible ! My wife arrived in June 2016 and our daughter was born January 2017. My wife was a stay at home mum until summer 2018 - so I am afraid that I won't have enough paper evidenc...

Naturalisation (Northern Ireland)

Hi all, Apologies in advance for the long read ... But I would appreciate some advice. I have been reading through the timeline threads from 2018 and 2019 and noticed that there is a wide range of differences between when people initially applied for Irish citizenship and had their application appro...
