Re: Passport sent to wrong address

Ok, so as far as I understand, the passport has been dispatched by HMPO but has not been delivered to you (or anyone) by DX due to supposedly incorrect/invalid postcode? Is that right? If so, looks like your passport is sitting with DX. I had a similar issue when my docs were being sent back to me b...

Re: Refugee ILR Can travel to own country & BC questions?

Nothing against the OP or refugees, just the daft way we have to mop up after the messes created by other countries intolerant belief systems... Regardless of your views, we are here to help one other on topics of immigration. This is not a forum to discuss politics and judge other people/countries...

Re: Refugee ILR Can travel to own country & BC questions?

Ok I will break the ice.. My asylum claim on a forced marriage from a South Asia country. I broke a religious rule and shamed them... I have decided not to go there...but I want to travel Some other countries. Certificate of travel not valid for those countries and my embassy didn't reject my appli...

Re: Refugee ILR Can travel to own country & BC questions?

Nuchi - If i was you, I would go and get that home country passport cancelled. I don't think you would want to risk BC after all these years spent in the UK. Just wait for your naturalisation and British passport and then you can travel as you see fit. All the best.

Re: Refugee ILR Can travel to own country & BC questions?

Hi Nuchi - I would suggest you wait an extra year and get BC. Once you have obtained a British passport, you are free to travel as you see fit. If you need to travel urgently while on ILR, I would suggest using a renewed UK travel document. If you obtain your home country passport, you could be at r...

Re: British citizenship and refugee status

I have lots of friends in this situation. Once you become a BC, you are free to travel as you see fit. As long as you have not used deception in your previous application for refugee status, ILR or BC, you should be fine. If you grow up in a certain country, you are bound to have connections to that...

Re: Applying 1st British Passport Overseas after Naturalisat

Actually, I remember reading somewhere that obtaining a first adult passport overseas will not have an interview process. Hence, you may be given a passport with a lesser validity than 10 years (I remember reading 1 year passport or so). Only when you renew it (with a potential interview process), w...

Unfortunately, I don't think you will be able to do the ceremony abroad, unless you are married to a British spouse.

Have they started delivering passports via Royal Mail? I thought it was DX. That's who delivered mine.

Re: please help , amend naturalisation certificate

I get the feeling that HMPO might have a fixed set of locations for place for birth in their system. Hence, if you were born in a certain village, but that village is still part of a larger better-known city/place, HMPO may decide to use that better known location. Honestly, I would not bother getti...

No need to mention. Once you have done a Speed Awareness Course, there should be no record of you having committed a minor traffic offence. All the best.

Re: Do I need to amend my certificate?

You won't need a deed poll until you want to use that registration certificate for something. The deed poll will certify your name was "XXX (as per reg certificate)" but now is "YYY (as per passport)". HOWEVER, as far as I know, the registration certificate is just a piece of "jewellery" and is real...

Re: Do I need to amend my certificate?

Mate - I would not waste my money. There is no need for reg certificate once you have a British passport. That is proof enough that you are a citizen. Don't be bullied by these "solicitors" who are readily wanting to "siphon" your money! All the best

Re: Refugee ILR Can travel to own country & BC questions?

Rassel - I would apply for the UK travel document (1951 convention) as this document has its perks (e.g. travel to most EU countries visa free). I believe your home country passport will not offer you that privilege. On the urgent travel home, I think you have valid grounds to visit. As you mentione...

Re: Do I need to amend my certificate?

I would not bother amending registration certificate if you have everything else in order (i.e. passport and birth certificate).

And don't be anxious my friend. This is not a big issue to warrant any sort of worry. Take care.

Also try Noddle. However, note that these free credit checks seem to have a month of lag in obtaining data. In any case, I think you should be in the clear. If you have paid, there should not be an issue. Also see link below. All the best. https://www.moneyadviceservice.org.uk/en/articles/dealing-wi...

Re: CCJ paid in full / British Naturalisation

Hi - If you have paid in full, I assume you should be fine. Also, I would register for a free credit check (noddle, credit score etc) to see if there is any CCJ against your name. If not, I would not mention on the naturalisation application.

All the best.

Re: Refugee ILR Can travel to own country & BC questions?

Rassel - what was the reason for rejection? Was it "good character" as usual? I know that with refugees, they create issue especially if you either: entered illegally in the first place (and don't apply for asylum ASAP); or entered legally with another visa type and much later applied for asylum wit...
