I can't seem to find the link to book an appointment either, I found it last week but I think they've changed it this week.

Re: Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI)

Hi guys,

we're trying to apply for OCI but it says we need to upload a photo of our signatures. How do we do that? Do we just write out signature on any piece of paper then scan it?

Re: Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI)

Dear all, I am going to apply for OCI this week and needs to travel to India towards the end of November. I understand that I may or may not get the OCI within 6 weeks. I checked that I can apply for Indian eVisa (1 month from arrival) and travel to India while my OCI application is on-going. Howev...

Re: Applying for OCI - final list of documents - Please help

Let me know how it goes. Because my family members didn't need their birth certificates so you should be ok. And if they do reject you in the VFS office, you won't have lost any money anyway because you only pay them after they accept your application.

Re: Applying for OCI - final list of documents - Please help

Yes, a family member just applied recently. He already had a Surrender certificate so when he went to the VFS centre with his birth certificate for the OCI, they never took it. They looked at it, but said it wasn't necessary to submit with the other original documents (such as his original marriage ...

Hi,

Yes I think your wife needs to self attest her copies etc. I think you've got everything in that list, just take the originals too of everything just incase.

Re: Applying for OCI - final list of documents - Please help

Hi RKUK,

No if you have a surrender certificate then your Indian Birth certificate isn't required. You will need your marriage certificate though, and your child's birth certificate. Make sure you take 1 original + 1 photocopy.

Hi tier1ilrnatoci,

They take nearly 5 weeks to return your original documents. It's supposed to be 2 weeks but they've been very busy these past few months.

Yes it's not supposed to change after you receive your documents, it only changes after your OCI gets accepted and processed.

Re: Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI)

Don't worry if you get rejected for an OCI then you get your money back except a small admin fee, I'm assuming it shouldn't be more than £25, and you'll lose money in the Special Delivery envelopes you've purchased. But yes set up a twitter account, it's a long hassle but it will be worth it when yo...

Re: Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI)

The Birmingham CGI must have not cared about the email from VFS confirming that you don't need the Surrender Certificate as it's the VFS who kind of work for CGI, not the other way round. The CGI have the final say over VFS. You've got all the required documents so I just don't understand why they'r...

I think Pompeyman's suggested some good ideas Rahul2295. You seem to have everything you'd need so I don't understand why they're causing problems for you. Do as Pompeyman advised and let us know how it goes.

Re: Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI)

What time did you ring the Birmingham office? They only answer calls between 10am-12pm and 2pm-4pm, the number is busy most of the times though. MEA is the MEAindia twitter which stands for Ministry of External Affairs for India, they should be able to help you. Sushama's twitter is SushmaSwaraj, sh...

Hi,

Have you tried ringing the CGI Birmingham office on their 0121 number? Also, how come you had to submit your husband's details if he's deceased?

Re: Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI)

Yes you'll definitely have to apply for a tourist visa, don't worry it won't get rejected because of your OCI application. Alot of people apply for OCI and then have to get a tourist visa since their OCI won't get done in time. Thanks for your help bud... It says 3-5 working days for the Tourist Vi...

Re: Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI)

Hi,

No you just show them your British Passport at the time of application but they won't take it away from you. They only take it after your OCI has been accepted,so you have to go back to VFS to give it. They keep your passport for around a week after that.
