Re: Who is this visa for?

Tier 5 (Temporary Worker) is not one specific visa, but five different ones, plus the Youth Mobility Scheme comes under Tier 5. Each one has its own criteria and purpose. See https://www.gov.uk/browse/visas-immigration/work-visas Thanks for the response. The requirements for the Youth Mobility opti...

Who is this visa for?

Hello, I'm a bit confused as to who this visa is actually for. My gf is a Canadian citizen and wishes to come live/work in the UK. She doesn't have any job offers from the UK. Could she still apply for this? She is currently working at a Canadian university. Is this the right visa to apply for? P.S....

Re: tier 4 maintenance confusion

I'll keep both the tuition fees and living costs in my bank account. The reason being that if I decide to pay the university later on before my visa application, I will be safe. If I don't keep the tuition in my account now, then my own option will be to pay it and then apply for the visa.

tier 4 maintenance confusion

Hello, I'm a bit confused about the maintenance fees requirement. Do I have to keep both the maintenance funds and tuition fees in my account for 28 days? or just the 9-10k in my account for the maintenance for 28 days? I am thinking about paying the university AFTER I get the visa. Should I show th...

Re: Switching Tier 4 sponsor?

I can't think of any grounds for refusal. I have the money and I am a genuine student. I completed 6 months of my PhD at the present university and applied at the other university because the subject expert of my PhD has moved there. My PhD work is a a subset of his work. I was even supposed to work...

Switching Tier 4 sponsor?

Hi, I've been granted my Tier 4 leave until 2021 to do my PhD at my current university. The professor I wanted to do my PhD under has moved to a different university right when I started my PhD 6 months ago. I am about to get an offer letter from the university he moved to for the same research. I h...

Re: Changing university: Do I have to leave the UK?

In your case you are continuing the same course with the same professor and only need a change of University. So you can request for CAS from the New University which is generally issued 90 days before the course. You need to submit that CAS and can get the Tier 4 visa changed. Where did you get th...

Re: Changing university: Do I have to leave the UK?

I believe that you may change your Tier 4 sponsor in the UK. Yes, although that Page on the UKCISA website needs updating re the 6 April 2016 study condition. Only those who do not need to show Academic Progression (including OP, because he is completing a PhD) can now apply in the UK. Say I'll joi...

Changing university: Do I have to leave the UK?

Hello people, I can't thank everyone enough for all the suggestions. My Tier 4 application was successful and right now I'm working on my PhD. Unfortunately, my supervisor has moved to another university. He is now trying to transfer me over to his new university as my PhD work is based on his work....

Re: Effect of US study visa rejections on UK study visa?

I was refused a Tier 4 based on 5 years cap in 2014. Then I was refused a Canadian Student visa based on "not sufficient ties to home and already having a masters from the UK" in 2015. Then I applied for Tier 4 in 2016 based on my PhD and got the visa. If you have valid reasons for the refusals, the...

Re: Student visa Maintenance funds can be in 2 accounts?

Yes. As long as both are acceptable types of sources for money, nobody cares how many accounts there are. The point is to prove that your friend has access to the total sum. I had a situation where UKBA (now UKVI) added up the closing balances of my account and my father's bank account. Of course I ...

Re: Bank statement: Showing transactions necessary?

Just submitted my application and got interviewed. The questions asked were: - My name/DOB/nationality - Course details - What I studied before this. - What I plan on doing after this. - Why this university - Explaining my course a bit. - Who is funding my studies - what I did in the gap between now...

Bank statement: Showing transactions necessary?

Hello, I'm hearing from people that I MUST have transactions throughout the 28 days for UKVI to know the balance I had. The trouble is, I've had no transactions (except for this one interest sum earned by my money). However, on my statement, it states on top something like DATE FROM: 1/7/2016 to 10/...

Course details on CAS

I have talked to the university and they are saying that their system has some flaw due to which it repeats like this on the CAS: https://s31.postimg.org/hdshog9qz/cas.png There was also a typo which they corrected for me. As for the repeating bit "Doctor of Philosophy Doctor of Philosophy...", they...

Can Fixed Deposits be used for maintenance?

I was wondering if it's possible to show Fixed Deposit as maintenance? I already have more than enough cash in my current account to cover a few thousand pounds more than my first year tuition + living. My parents gave me that money and they will be helping me out in the future too. I just don't wan...

Student Visa Help - Various Questions

Hello, I got my CAS and noticed that instead of them saying that my IELTS and degree transcripts (from University of Hertfordshire) were used to assess my English, they said that " Higher Education Institution(HEI) sponsor has made assessment ". Re: 5 years cap

Please refer to the latest TIER 4 Guidance document. As far as I know, the extra months at the end of your course are not counted towards your cap. So the additional months spent at the end of degree or between the Bachelors and Masters are left out of the calculation. That should make your total to...

Maintenance and NHS fees?

Hello, I'd like to get a confirmation of exactly how much money I have to show in the bank. My university is outside of London. So this is what I have kept in the bank: - 1 year tuition fees - 1050 x 9 = £ 9135 (maintenance) I will be applying from Bangladesh. I'm a bit unsure about the new NHS paym...

You can pay in cash or use the online service i...

Thx for the info. So I guess I should go pay the IHS off ASAP.
