Re: Spouse Visa Financial Requirement

Also as of last I checked you cannot change visa type from within the UK. She would have to leave and apply for entry as family/spouse, FWIW. Definitely disagree with that. I switched from a Tier 5 visa to a spouse visa with no issues. Filled out an FLR(M) application and was good to go. Just need ...

Re: Question on Accommodation Requirements

Thank you CR001. Another question – if a friend or relative rents and has a spare double bedroom (or living room?) in their property available for us, what documents would we need to provide for the visa application? Would it be their tenancy agreement and the NOC signed by their landlord? We appli...

Re: ILR application > circumstance change > advice needed

Apologies for the belated post. I meant to update this thread with my border experiences. As discussed above, I was a bit worried about coming back through the U.K. after my spouse visa had expired, though I was only staying three days and had a plane ticket in hand. Of course I was still a “risk to...

Re: ILR application > circumstance change > advice needed

1. Visit visa not applicable, Americans do not need a visa or documentation. For the third time: a plane ticket will certainly suffice. I'll be sure to double check again with my immigration lawyer. I'll let you know if I get barred from entering! :) 2. Helpfully the kind and considerate (non-ambula...

What ties to the US will you have when you visit, to show you will leave again?
Most likely a plane ticket! A mother by my side. And a lawyer's letter that I am pursuing divorce proceedings. 8)

Re: ILR application > circumstance change > advice needed

You must leave the UK by the date your visa expires. If you don't, you will be an overstayer and won't be allowed to work or use the NHS. Question: any experience of - or thoughts on - what happens if you do NOT overstay but then come back in to finish up moving & legal stuff? I'm not going to move...

Re: ILR application > circumstance change > advice needed

Thanks CR001.

My husband has apparently really screwed me over. Leave by expiry or basically forget coming back, really. I can't see how there is no penalty for people who do this, beyond a big divorce settlement I guess. :-( A few weeks ago I thought it was just a bump in the road.

Re: ILR application > circumstance change > advice needed

Thanks for the reply - the immigration lawyer I asked (who came highly recommended) said that she would never advise perjuring oneself (ie he can't say he intends to live with me) and on top of that the high fee makes it even more unreasonable to do so. I'm certainly open to suggestions though, I ha...

I'd rather not have to keep bumping this up, but I'd certainly be surprised if there is no one on the forum with even the vaguest idea about my situation.

Advice welcome, experience of anything similar equally so!

ILR application > circumstance change > advice needed

Hello, I can't believe I'm posting this when I should be posting in the ILR application timeline. I have been in the UK as a spouse for 5 years as of two weeks ago. We've been collecting documents for the ILR application. I signed up for LITUK test, etc. A few nights before my test my husband said h...

Dear pixelpenguin,
Welcome and thanks for posting! We are on the same track and timing it seems so will watch this space with interest. FWIW my husband (British) has the exact same issue. He works for such a huge company they will only do a standard letter.
Good luck!

Re: Can my pregnant US wife having her child in the UK?

Very nervous, the application was received on the 3rd of October, so it has been 7 weeks and 2 days since we applied. Chickpea , my wife asks if your in-laws place was a council house or not? Keep your fingers and toes crossed for us. Thank you! Hi abrock, I bet you're nervous - will hold positive ...

Re: Urgent application for Replacement BRP advice

Possibly not helpful but someone I know had a friend lose their passport with their ILR visa vignette. And they had no BRP! (Never been told they needed it, as was my situation two years ago.) They decided to travel back to the UK on their current but un-visa'd U.S. passport (which had lots of stamp...

Re: BRP(RC) applications

Hi redstrat, A couple of notes from my own experience & someone else's: 1. I once filled in an online form for a student visa, the UKVI changed the form either later that day or the next and since my application was received after the change of form, they rejected it. (I won't explain the ensuing ni...

Re: Pregnant Partner, Leave to Remain Denied

What a heartbreaking situation! Just curious, as I have no answers, would it be a good idea - since she prbably can't fly - to go to Ireland for the birth?? Does a child born there become an Irish citizen automatically? (ie EU) Is it cheaper? And does that help her not overstay a visitor visa (usual...

Re: BRP(RC) applications

Good luck! (Most days I suspect the government is purposely making it all difficult because it reduces immigration, just on the difficulty alone... and admittedly when they decided to make the BRP the "be all end all" of proof of right to work, they never made a law or rule or regulation that applie...

Re: Urgent lost passport and ILR question

BUMP... for the evening crowd. It's a pretty simple question, hopefully someone has an answer. There are a few threads regarding lost BRPs that are somewhat helpful, but this is not a BRP replacement this is a lost passport with vignette visa! The best case is that they try to return to the UK and e...
