Re: 2016 Citizenship Approvals

On passport - I don't think you can get expedited processing in the public Passport office if that's your first time passport.

Guards also wanted to see my naturalization certificate (and the other documents) before signing the form.

Re: 2016 Citizenship Approvals

No, not by email/phone as I believe there is no point. They are responsive on Twitter but they don't promise anything. I physically walked into the public office near Merrion square 2 or 3 times (as its only few mins walk from where I work) and they were helpful. It might also be worth to consider a...

Re: 2016 Citizenship Approvals

Its 20 working days. I've applied for the passport right after the ceremony on the 4th March, and got mine on the 4th of April (was travelling on 8th). But I was pestering them a lot in the passport office and via Twitter to get it done on time, if I didn't, I'm positive I would've missed the flight...

Re: Travel from N.I to Ireland for flights. Visa needed?

Obie, are you sure? I know for transiting via the UK that's the case (i.e. live in Ireland, transit via the UK), and only in limited circumstances too.

Never heard you can transit from UK through Ireland by land without a visa.

She will probably need a short stay multi visa:

Re: Travel from N.I to Ireland for flights. Visa needed?

Yes she does need visa as she will actually be entering Ireland, the link mentioned only applies to airside transits (i.e. you arrive at Dublin airport and transit further without actually entering Ireland). On the way out, even though technically not legal, she is unlikely to have any issues as the...

You can email them at citizenshipinfo@justice.ie.

Please share any update you might have with us, as that'd be very helpful.

Thanks!

Re: 2016 Citizenship Approvals

I think Pixie12 is right about the March ceremony. I stumbled into this: http://www.1848tricolour.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/1848_Tricolour-Celebrations_Draft-Programme-2016.pdf That is a confirmation. I hope I am invited for that ceremony. Great info! Thanks! Waterford it is then. Looking at t...

Re: 2016 Citizenship Approvals

That would be very disappointing if they only invite the local applicants to be honest, as there are a lot of people here waiting for their ceremony - it also seems odd to have a whole ceremony and a minister over for only 200 applicants. But thanks for the info! As to your query, you should get an ...

@pixie12, can you advise where did you get information about the next ceremony from? This is very important.

Thank you!

Re: 2016 Citizenship Approvals

A friend of mine has received his approval yesterday, his timeline:

Application: 8th July 15,
Second stage: 8th Sept 15,
Approval: 14 Jan 16, dated 12 Jan 16.

I'm still waiting for mine.

Re: 2016 Citizenship Approvals

I wouldn't be too concerned about the delay, my application timeline is similar to Danny, and I have few other friends with a very similar application timeline waiting for approvals (I didn't get mine either yet). Seems like we just missed the previous approvals wave in October and then it was a lon...

Re: 2016 Citizenship Approvals

Thanks for info zsk_747! Its a bummer about no ceremony in February but it was kind of expected. Let's hope it will be in early to mid-March. On a positive note though, looks like the new wave of approvals is in the pipeline. Probably already back from the minister - in reply to my email late Decemb...

Re: 2016 Citizenship Approvals

Thanks, KingdomMan!

I am very curious as to the date of the next ceremony. Would it be fair to say that it looks unlikely there will be one until at least beginning of March, since they usually give couple of months notice about the date, and there are no news yet?

Re: 2016 Citizenship Approvals

Last week, I've received the following reply to my email: Hi xxx, Your application is currently at an advanced stage of processing. While it is not possible to give an exact timeframe, this office will be in touch with you as soon as a decision has been reached. Provided everything is in order with ...

Re: 2015 Citizenship Approvals

Guys, I see few mentions of January/February ceremony. Were there any news from INIS that there will be a ceremony in January/February? I understand usually there is one (like this year), but then in that case there wasn't a big ceremony in December the year before. My feeling was that since we have...

Re: 2015 Citizenship Approvals

@embrace-8, not really from what I know. At the time you apply you need to have been legally resident in the state for the past year AND also for another 4 years out of last 8 years. For most people that means you can apply once you are 5 years in Ireland, unless you were absent for some time. So yo...

Is that my wrong impression or does this wave of approvals seems to be rather "short" compared to the previous ones before the big ceremonies?
