Re: New citizenship form UKF

It's strange that it's taking so long for you guys. I applied for my passport from Cape Town in South Africa at the beginning of last month and took only 10 days before I got my shiny new passport via courier.
Holding thumbs that you get yours soon!!

Re: Born after 1983 - Question

Well what do you know, I sent a quick email to them and this is what they said:

"It depends on independence arrangements of the country that they were born to.
Some yes and some no."

Still no wiser. Lol!

Re: Born after 1983 - Question

I thought about that but, even though I was happy with what they did for me, they'll just ask me to apply and pay for another investigation! lol! I suppose no harm in asking though! 8)

Born after 1983 - Question

Hi all, My mother was born in Tanzania (which was a British Mandated Territory at the time) in 1946 to UK born parents and was a British citizen (CUKC) from birth. I was successful in my UKM application for British citizenship (I was born in 1976 in South Africa). However my sister was born after 19...

Passport countersignatory question

Quick question. I am applying for my first British passport from South Africa and I have the ideal person as the countersignatory except that she is an Estate Agent and this does not appear on the list of "recognised professions". Common sense tells me that it should be ok though. What do you think?...

Re: New citizenship form UKF

The approval letter I got a few weeks back says I should expect an invitation within twelve weeks. Acccording to the agency I used there are major backlogs at the moment with issuing invitation letters.

UKM application experience and timeline

Hi all, I just wanted to share with you my experience applying for British citizenship via the UKM route (I live in Cape Town, South Africa). My application was not a straight-forward one. I'll just give you a brief overview. My grandfather was born in the UK (Middlesex) in 1910 and my grandmother i...

Re: UKM applicants for BC--what is "too long" a wait from UK

I'm doing mine through Philip Gamble. Very happy with their service so far. All letters went to them, which they then emailed to me. I received the acknowledgement letter, biometrics letter and "complex case" letter all at the same time. They were dated only a few days apart.

Re: UKM applicants for BC--what is "too long" a wait from UK

Yes there seems to be a lot of inconsistency. My application is still early days (only just under two months) but I can imagine the frustration of those who have had to wait unreasonably long periods.
