Travelling while waiting for outcome of application (Lounes)

Me: EU citizen, naturalised UK citizen, TC citizen TC citizens do no need a visa to enter the UK for up to ...

Re: Non EU mother - proof of dependency

Send your mother a small amount of money, say £200, via Western Union or other similar money transfer service. Use the receipt as proof of financial dependency. Money tranfer service NOT bank transfer, because then you will have to submit bank documents for verification. That's what we did, followin...

Processing times? EU family permit for dependents of British citizen

Does anyone know the processing times for an EU family permit for a dependent relative of a dual UK/ EU citizen? My mother (EU/ Commonwealth citizen, no convictions or anything that could be problematic etc.) applied for a family permit to join me (UK/EU citizen) in the UK as a dependant in April 20...

Re: How to successfully apply for EU Settlement Scheme Family Permit for parents-in-law

Even if dependency is no longer assumed, it s not hard to prove dependency. I was advised by an immigration lawyer that ONE proof of money sent to the dependent is enough, and the lawyer recommended a money transfer through something like Western Union (because you don't want to submit bank statemen...

Re: Entering UK on EU passport, already naturalised

If you have to carry your naturalisation certificate just in case, you might as well take both passports with you, after all the passport is less fragile than the certificate.
You are supposed to use your UK passport when entering the UK and your EU passport when entering its country of issue.

Cancellation impossible (EUSS scheme for dependants)

So, I decided to cancel the application and reapply on behalf of my mother because I mistakenly ticked No instead of yes in the dependency question. The website says that in order to cancel an application ahead of the biometric appointment you need to: You can cancel your application online and your...

Re: How to successfully apply for EU Settlement Scheme Family Permit for parents-in-law

I am a naturalised UK citizen, with retained EU citizenship, so no settled status, I'm afraid. My mother has a biometric appointment this week and I don't know if we should go ahead with it or just cancel and start again.
Cancellation seems to be just as much of a nightmare.

Re: How to successfully apply for EU Settlement Scheme Family Permit for parents-in-law

So, if dependency is assumed and there is no need to provide proof of money transfers, why do we have to tick yes in the relevant box? I would expect that ticking yes or no for dependency will make no difference. And, yes, I ticked no on behalf of my mother, and there is no way to correct it now, so...

Lounes and family permit application for parent post Brexit

I am a dual EU/UK citizen, thanks to the advice received in these forums a few years ago. My mother, who is 85 years old, is an EU citizen residing in an EU country at the moment. Unfortunately, because of the COVID 19 situation she did not manage to travel to the UK in 2020, so we missed the opport...

First passport for child born to EU parents before 2006- hel

Here is the situation: My friends' son is not yet 18, born in the UK in 1999 and he decided to apply for a British passport now. His parents are Irish and Greek and both moved to the UK in the late 1980s and have lived here since, but never applied for PR or citizenship. The mother has a document th...

Re: EU national family - exercising treaty rights

But if the wife is an EEA national and she does not have CSI, can she still apply as a dependent? Also, would she need to apply using EEA(PR) or EEA(FM) ? I am confused by the guidance here (scenarios 3 and 4, page 20) https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/572718/...

EEA PR and disability/ qualifying person

This is on behalf of a friend of mine who is an EEA national and has the following: Sept 2012- Aug 2015 working part time. Discovered employer was not paying her NI contributions, employer was prosecuted for this, but she was told she has a gap in her NI record. She has other proof that she was empl...

Re: DESPERATE! Help Needed Comprehensive Sickness Insurance

If they refuse your application you will have lost £65. :) Since you have an EHIC you do not need CSI, so don't rush to buy CSI, check your EHIC first. I think EHICs from Poland don't always have an expiry date, in which case you are covered forever. It also means that you are covered from June 16 o...

Re: Name spelling on a PR certificate

I had the same problem with my PR. My name is spelled with two different spellings in my Greek passport, in order to satisfy the requirements of Greek law. Unfortunately, the clerk at the home office chose to write it using the spelling that does not appear in any other document. I did not do anythi...

Re: Spelling mistakes in name by the Home Office

What I did get, was a response from his liaison with the UKVI, which essentially says that I should proceed with my naturalisation application, regardless of the incorrect spelling, and all that would matter is that the correct name would be in my supporting documents (passport, letters, etc) What ...

Spelling mistakes in name by the Home Office

Apologies if this has been answered before, but I could not find a satisfactory answer in the forums. I applied for a permanent residence certificate as an EEA national earlier this year and I have now applied for naturalisation and for a British passport to be issued immediately. In the letter abou...

Re: Working & Self-employed & studying & benefits

I am Greek, so my country was already in the EU when I moved to the UK in 1995, so I have no stamps in my passports. I was a student until 1999 (which is why I only mentioned 1999, back then if you were a student you could not count those years towards residency or citizenship, as I was told). Betwe...

Re: Working & Self-employed & studying & benefits

A quick addition: I notice that proof of sickness insurance etc became a requirement in June 2011. My studies finished in June 2011. I don't suppose that makes any difference, does it?

Working & Self-employed & studying & benefits

I have been living in the UK exercising Treaty rights since 1999, but only decided to apply for documentation now. Here is my question: In 2011 I was on unpaid leave from my work for part of the year. At the same time I was self-employed (part-time and paying the appropriate NICs) and I was studying...
