I'm waiting, too. Application sent: June 22 Confirmation Letter: June 24 Cheque cleared: June 26 I am trying not to panic as from the research I've done it seems three months is the average waiting time. Just got word this weekend though that our landlord has sold our house and we have to be out by ...

I also included a letter from our landlord (as we didn't have a lease), detailing the house (that we were the only ones residing in it, the rent we paid) and also included a letter from my husband's employer- the Home Office kept these two letters, so maybe something to include.

I recently got my spouse visa; they sent back the whole folder I sent in. However, they kept the letter from my husband's employer and the letter from our landlord (we don't have a lease). I also sent in my husband's bank statements and payslips. I would definitely add these four items to your evide...

evidence to government you are married....? Form set(m)

I just recently got married and applied for my spouse visa flr(m). I'm thinking ahead (way ahead, I know!) when I'll have to apply for ILR using the set(M) form- I looked at the form on the internet. One thing, it said you have to "include evidence that you have declared your relationship to th...

We applied for CoA April 23rd and got it back May 16. We then called the register office in the borough we live in and went in to register our intention to marry on May 31st. They asked each of us several questions: what our partners full name was, their date of birth and their occupation. They aske...

Thanks John and Christophe for clearing that up. I will be Ms Jones, then. I was just concerned, as I forgot to mention, I wasn't sure what to fill out on the spouse visa form, whether to tick Miss/Mrs/Ms or how to sign the form. So, okay , now I know they will accept if I tick Ms and sign as Ms Jon...

keeping maiden name.... title after marriage?

Sorry if this seems a daft question! I'm getting married in a couple weeks to my british partner. However, I want to keep my maiden name. Let's say I'm now Miss Jones and my O/H is Mr Smith. After marriage, my partner says I then become Mrs Jones. Is this correct? It makes it sound like I've married...

Hi, I'm just going through this process myself. You will first need a COA form (permission to marry in the UK), it's on www.ind.homeoffice.gov.uk On the left you'll see "application forms" to click on and then scroll down to COA. When you get the approval form, you need to register your in...

Hi Nan, I sent it last week Monday (23 April). Got a letter three days later saying they had received it. Bad timing for us- we had to wait till my O/H got his divorce certificate before we could apply for permission to marry. Now, we're in a time crunch to marry before my work permit expires but ca...

CoA- a question about nationality

I'm filling out the CoA form (permission to marry). It asks for my fiance's nationality and how long he's been living in the UK. My fiance came to England for the first time over three years ago from South Africa. Besides his South African passport, he also has a British passport (through ancesteral...

anybody- how long to get CoA(permission to marry) approval?

Just a quick question: we will very soon be applying for permission to marry (waiting for an original divorce certificate from South Africa which has been a real hassle to get hold of). How long has it taken people on here to get that permission back to marry? We are just under a real time constrain...

Wish I could submit it now, John, but I decided to get my Canadian passport renewed (it expires next Oct.) so that I could have my spouse visa put in the new one. I'm expecting it back in two or three weeks. It was a last minute decision. Very foolish of me. I now realise I should have just used the...

Thanks for the quick reply , John. Thanks again, John. Ideally we want to get married here and then go on a honeymoon - sounds like we should just be able to make it!
One thing- once we get married, do you know how long it takes to get the marriage certificate? I've read it is necessary to send it when applying for the spouse visa.

John, Thanks so much for all the info you wrote - so, it looks like even though there is some leg work to be done it can be done quite quickly. Just got an email from O/H's lawyer- the court date is set for 20th Feb. One problem: the lawyer said he can write something up saying the divorce is done, ...

Thanks for the replies, much appreciated! Where it stands now: O/H, who is from South Africa (he has a British passport), is divorcing his wife, who lives there. They haven't seen each other in about four years. We were told it would be easier for her to petition the divorce since they were married ...
