Application for First British passport – queries

Hello, I have just naturalised and want to apply for my first British passport. I have a couple of queries: 1. In the table of supporting documents (page 12 of the Guidance notes), there is a tick for ‘any other uncancelled passports relating to you’. That means I have to send them my foreign passpo...

Re: standard applications get delays?

Same boat here. Sent application by post in April as couldn't get an appointment with the NDRS (tried 3 different councils, they were all swamped, and as I work Monday-Friday it is difficult for me to make phone calls during the day). Still no acknowledgement & monies not taken and I will probably n...

Re: European line at airport with EEA ROR

I thought i would share my expererience for those who still wonder whether they need a landing card and if they can use the European queue at the airport. I just came back from holiday and this is my third trip since ROR. The first 2 time i was asked question regarding EEA, i then informed them tha...

change of employer while application processed

Hello, I sent out my application pack, with supporting documentation, a week ago. The £65 fee has been debited and I am waiting for the email confirmation. I learnt today that, in the wake of Brexit, my employers have decided to change name. They want to send a message to clients that they are a tru...

near completed pack - queries

Hello, I have gathered nearly all the documents for my application. I have a few questions: 1. I worked f/t throughout the qualifying period but also took (and passed) quite a few professional qualifications. Am I right that these do not need to be included? I was self funding so did not rely on stu...

Re: Naturalisation - Acceptable Referee

Thanks for that. My solicitor is a EU national (I needed someone who knew the law of the country where I come from, and spoke the language), although the practice does employ British solicitors too! For the other referee, I'll try and use a work colleague: there is a lot of turnover, but some of the...

2) Once a BC your sponsor couldn't sponsor you as dual nationals (from EU/EEA) who are BCs are not recognised as Union citizens for this purpose - even before Brexit. (Except under a special transitional arrangement, if you were married and had a RC before a key date in 2012. My colleagues are obvi...

Re: Foreign health policy CSI and PR/citizenship

Cheers. I was more worried that planning to die overseas showed a lack of commitment to living in this country! This way hopefully I won't be a burden on the NHS, even if I die after 'a long disease'.

Re: Naturalisation and English Language Requirements

Thanks. Will see when I can fit one in. Maybe during the Christmas break, before flying somewhere sunny? Planning to get the Life in the UK test out of the way in August, I can sit it at a town near where I live (still a 2-hour trip each way) and at least I know the test centre because I have alread...

Re: PR and NI record

Thank you very much! I have been working here for just under 10 years and that employer is snap bang in the middle so I can't choose a 5-year qualifying period which does not include them!

Foreign health policy CSI and PR/citizenship

I am a worker, but got CSI (bought in my country of origin) last year. It covers me for healthcare in the UK (I only use it when I see my NHS dentist, I get a small refund of about 9 euros) and everywhere else in the world: I do have to pay the bills first, then ask for a refund. However the main re...

PR and NI record

Hello, I have worked almost without interruption during the 5-year period I want to use as a qualifying period. However, one of my employers did not pay HMRC any tax or NI contributions on my behalf until 10 months after I had started working for them: is that going to be an issue? My employers star...

Re: Naturalisation and English Language Requirements

Hi Geriatrix, Vk2014, The only relief is for Citizenship they accept certificates that has expired. So English language certificate used at the time of entry clearance 6 years ago can still be used ( https://www.gov.uk/english-language/approved-english-language-qualifications ) I am an EU national ...

No, your wife is not your sponsor; under UK law (in the context of immigration) she is not even recognised as an EEA national (and that is even before Brexit ). As you are a Union citizen you apply in your own right as the main applicant and you do not have a sponsor. (Its a poorly-designed and gen...

Re: Job seeking while passport with Home Office 4 PR

Even if you have a passport, some employers and agencies will still check your identity online using Experian, CallMl etc. Maybe you could just ask them to rely on this until you have your passport back? Also, if you have a UK driving licence (even a provisional one, while you are still taking lesso...

Re: Pension of EU citizens after Brexit

If you worked in several different european countries during your career, it's going to have an impact on how your state pension is calculated and where it's paid from. This is what the current rules are: http://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/work/retire-abroad/state-pensions-abroad/index_en.htm It's...
