Re: Using a solicitor

Hello :) My husband came to the UK on a fiance visa, which we used a solicitor to apply for and we found this very helpful. However now we would like to apply for the next visa (5 year route) and feel like we have enough knowledge of the application and process to proceed without a solicitor. I was...

Re: Potential reduction in Minimum Income Requirement increase from £38700 to £29000

What confuses me is the complete lack of preparation or forethought with the new policies. Namely: 1. Why they decided to lump family visas in and along with skilled worker visas. The two are not identical and nowhere near the same. In general, family visa recipients will have FAR more resources, c...

Re: Potential reduction in Minimum Income Requirement increase from £38700 to £29000

The more I look in to the Stats surrounding this issue, the more I confirm my suspicions that this is the Tory Party Right Wing driving it. "By June 2023, 75,717 family-related visas were granted, which is a substantial 110% jump from 2022. These figures are primarily driven by visas granted to par...

Re: Potential reduction in Minimum Income Requirement increase from £38700 to £29000

From £18,600 to £38,700 to £29,000! Yet another fiasco Made in Westminster by the Tories. I guess they can do what they want before next GE as they are not likely to form the next Govt. Of course, they could save their blushes by calling a GE in the next few weeks and months thus saving themselves t...

Re: New salary threshold of £38,700

I am truely astonished at some of your responses! I have been told I am full of surprises :D Joking aside, I think it is over-simplistic to imagine that all migrants think the same or that they have the same approach to the issue(s) of migration. I understand from some of your previous posts (and I...

Re: New salary threshold of £38,700

£38.7k on Min Wage (£11.44) is a 65 hour week? That suggests that it is eminently doable. During the early part of my immigration journey, when I also faced a hike in income thresholds, I managed to work ~80 hours per week across two jobs, working 12 hours a day and not taking a single day off for ...

Re: New salary threshold of £38,700

The figure of £38,700 was the bottom end of the upper 25th percentile of earnings. In essence it basically aimed at forcing the minimum non heath related migrant salaries to a position that sponsors would be better off employing a U.K. settled person or citizen in all bar the higher earning job rol...

Re: New salary threshold of £38,700

What should UK employers make of the government’s five-point plan to reduce immigration? Quite simply, as I see it, if an employer has to increase the wages/salary to secure the staff required. Isnt that in itself Inflationary? For example, a Restaurant requires the skills of an authentic chef whic...

Re: New salary threshold of £38,700

......Personally, I think 18.6K is far too little to be able to bring someone to live with you. Time and again I read on this forum that people who have never met are getting married after meeting just once, and then he/she is allowed to arrive into the UK . Worse is the number of cases of divorce ...

Appreciate there will be discussions and nothing is set in stone, but am I right in saying that the financial threshold does not apply for naturalisation applications? My wife already has ILR.

Kind regards
There is NO such requirement for citizenship!!

Re: New salary threshold of £38,700

In 2024 the Minimum Wage will be £11.44 per hour. Govt is saying in order to support a foreign Spouse there is a requirement to earn £38,700.

11.44 x 52 weeks x 40 hours per week is quite a bit less than 38,700.

Am I missing something?

Re: Expired Passport

Is there something I can read up on which would assist me in convincing airline staff at Miami? The flight will be direct into London then an onward domestic flight to Glasgow. ICAO has specific instructions about that in their guidances - you can google it - airlines should follow that. The UK gov...
