I don't know about your 1st question, but there should be translators available in the British Embassy in China. Based on my information (gained several years ago though) she can request a translator from the Embassy to help her in the Interview.

I think English is a must, no matter initial or extension applications for HSMP.

Many people were talking about the "transitional arrangements" re HSMP extension.

This is an interesting subject, but the more you talk about it, the less useful it would be. The more people know how to use this approach to get their HSMP extended, the sooner this route will be blocked. Keep quite, do your research and just do it. We all know money talks, and systems are invented...

I think you have missed one point.

Introducing this test means the number of people who can apply for ILR is limited by the capacity of the test.

So if the capacity of the test is 1000 per year throughout the UK, then the maximum number of granting of ILR is 1000.
