State Pension eligibility for a housewife

Hi, This request for advice pertains to my wife's pension status. We moved abroad from UK in 2007. I had been working with a multinational company and was regularly making my National Insurance contributions. Being well settled with a decent job, I started making Voluntary Class 2 NI contributions a...

Thank you very much John. Looked up for some information on BHC's website in Islamabad, and other than pileload of documents that would be required for registering the child's birth, I think I am more concerned about the time it would take for the passport to come through which is 3 months at the mo...

Having a baby abroad (in Pakistan)

Hi, we are expecting our second towards the end of the year, and are thinking along the lines of having the baby delivered in Pakistan. There are certain number of reasons as to why we are weighing out this option, but just wanted to find out what formalities/documents would be required for sorting ...

Made my wife's nationality application on the 1st of Feb and the fee was charged to the credit card on the 12th ... though I wouldn't be surprised if it were to take the IND a little more than 2 weeks for applications filed in Feb/March.

I think you should be able to request the Passport Office to send your originals back through Special Delivery. Just buy one of the pre-paid Special Delivery envelopes (with a higher level of compensation i.e. upto £1000 or £2500) from the Post Office and hand it in with your application. And inca...

Same case here ... arrived back in 1999 from Pakistan on a years student visa and was sent off for the medical .... it took them nearly 2 hours for a basic health check and a chest X-Ray ... but then again it was primarily down to a reasonably long queue.

Whats really strange is if you go through the automated system on the website, and you state you are naturalised, you wont even get asked for your parents detials let alone your grand parents details.
Thanks. Seems to be a good option.

Thanks for the replies. May be there ought to be a bit more explanation within the guidance notes for naturalised applicants.

Once we are at the stage of making the passport application, for the benefit of others I'll update this thread.

First time adult Passport app. for Naturalised citizen

Hi, my wife has recently applied for her naturalisation and doing some forward thinking I was going through the British Passport's application form which seems to have changed over the last couple of months! Just wanted to ask if section 4 needs to be filled in for a 'naturalised' British citizen (b...

No not any luck so far. I've been sending off my CVs for the last couple of months, but without any luck. And further to John's comments, incase you do have plans of applying for naturalisation in the future, your excessive absence from the UK might adversely affect your application. See Section 3, Pg 19 for further details.

No need to worry about anything. My take on this would be that they'd simply ask you a couple of things about : a) how did you find out and then apply for the job? b) where was the interview conducted? c) what would your job role entail? and probably a couple of other things. But it should be a stra...

I'll re-iterate what Jeff's said "Think before you do anything". Instead of regarding yourself as a superior being (by virtue of your British Citizenship*), try making a persistent effort in talking things out with your husband ... hear his side of the story ... raise your concerns/issues with him ....

Is it possible to visit UK on an Irish visit visa?

Hi, I was just wondering if it is possible to visit the UK if you're been granted an Irish visit visa, for a Pakistani passport holder. Also if it can be possible to post any official links with the relevant information, that will be appreciated.

Hope this helps.

Right of Abode (ROA) vs ILR

Hi, just wanted to ask what kind of benefits would one have if you were to apply for Right of Abode (ROA), compared to just sticking with ILR in your foriegn passport. As a pre-requisite for naturalised citizens, I do know that the country of origin should allow dual nationality, else don't think RO...
