Re: Supporting documents - how recent do they need to be?

And do I understand correctly that a recently naturalised person can be the non-professional referee?

Supporting documents - how recent do they need to be?

When I applied for my son's PR, I obtained a letter from school confirming that he's been a pupil from date XX. The letter is dated 28 Nov 2016. I'm submitting an application for his registration as BC next week - do I need to ask school to provide another letter or will it still be fine? I've also ...

Re: British citizenship and name change

I see. There is no easy way around it :( I will try to change my name in my home country on the basis of my using the new one for years. I should probably wait with naturalisation until I've done it but I worry they will significantly increase the fees again. If I do apply for naturalisation before ...

Re: Question for British Citizenship application - Refrees

I'm having the same issues with the professional referee for my 13 year old son, I didn't realise the teacher/GP/health visitor requirement is mostly for younger children. Thank you CR001, it will be so much easier to find a professional referee who knows the child but has not engaged with the him ...

Re: British citizenship and name change

I am personally on the same boat as you. I have applied for Naturalisation in my current name. After contacting them via email, Home Office has confirmed me that once the application has been approved, the Naturalisation certificate will be issued in my current name. Does it mean that you will get ...

Re: Nationality Checking Service - do I need it?

Thank you, I'll be able to travel on my EEA ID so that's not a problem but I'm worrying that I'll miss on some vital advice on my application or collection of supporting documents...
I'll check the available appointments in the second nearest, just in case.

Re: Nationality Checking Service - do I need it?

I know that but I'm in Wales and there are only 5 (!) NCSs for the whole country so they are all far away (and probably equally booked).

Re: British citizenship and name change

That's what I suspected, thank you for confirming it. What if I apply for BC now, get it under my old name and then somehow manage to change the name in my home country? I can't try to do it now as the case needs to be taken to court, it takes time plus I would have to fly there to initiate the ...

Nationality Checking Service - do I need it?

I've tried to book an appointment with a local NCS but they are fully booked for the next 2 months. I've been wondering if it's worth waiting for the appointment in May, risking any fee increases that may happen during this time? I don't really need to keep the documents as I have both my passport ...

British citizenship and name change

I've just received EEA(PR) and I intend to apply for British citizenship. But I'm confused as to the implications of my name change. A few years ago I changed my name via Deed Poll and I've been using only this name in the UK ever since. My EEA passport, ID card and identity are under my old name as ...

Re: Unsuccessful applications

Registration Certificate (RC) and document certifying permanent residence (DCPR) are two different documents - which one did you submit with your application? You need DCPR for the British Citizenship application.

Proof of residence

Hi, I've submitted my application for EEA(PR) and once my status is confirmed I intend to apply for BC. I'm currently studying and I will hopefully graduate in early June 2017. I've already secured a PhD position that will start 1 October 2017, so I will have 4 months of holidays in between that I ...
