What I am struggling to understand is the purpose of the caseworkers phone call.
She did not ask me for nay information or documents but just told me why they can't grant me status .
If she had already reached a conclusive a decision why not just send the decision letter ?

That will be unlawful, as you status is independent of what your partner chooses to apply for. Partner should not have applied for PSS in the first place. Thanks for your kind reply. Partner should not have applied for PSS in the first place. Why? They are free to apply, and this is recommended to expedite the spouses' application. The online application form does ask for details of ID card if you tick yes.

As spouse has renounced British citizenship then I believe you would have freedom to choose either. If not done then relevant person of Northern Ireland would have been only option.
