I have been working in the US too. My observation is that UK has lower salary than US, in the sense that when you compare the prices here in the UK and in the US, you will find that there is no big difference between them. For example, a bottle of mike costs you around USD2.00 in the US. For the sam...

For those wishing to open a new UK bank account, take a look at the HSBC passport account (available on their website). They don't need addres proof but you need to pay 50 pounds per year and a 12 months contract. Also, they don't have checks for you. I believe that account would help you go through...

According to Home Office reply, you can't do that or you risk failing your ILR application. If you really need to leave for three months, you have to go back and forth several time, because the Home Office makes it clear that you cannot leave the country continuously for more than 6 weeks on any sin...

Oh yes. The above applies only to primary HSMP applicant. For dependants, their right to stay solely derives from the primary applicant. So as long as the primary applicant has got the ILR, the dependants would be fine.

I have personally ring the Home Office on this because it may affect me as well. Their answer was that it is oaky to leave UK consectively for 6 weeks each year, AND the total amount of time out of UK should be less than 6 months within that 5 years. According to Home office, you have to ensure that...

I think a reputable UK degree is recognised in Canada. The problem for Canadian job market is that their tax rate is too high (almost 50%). But you are easily accessible to US job market or even have opportunity to get a green card in the furture. The life in the US is comfortable, yet you have to a...

My thinking is that you can try out a little bit in the UK. If you don't like it, or cannot find a job there, just go back to Canada because Canadian PR lasts for 2 or 3 years. I forgot. The problem for HSMP is that it's too uncertain and UK government seem to lose their creditibility completely. Ap...

Hi,
I am going to London next week also under HSMP. How's your life as a new migrant under HSMP. Have you encountered any difficulty?

Can you recommend any effective way of securing a job?

Thank you for your information.
What is that position?
I am not in IT field so I am afraid that I may not fit your requirement. I have a Mechanical Engineering degree and a UK Laws degree.

Job Prosepct

Can anyone comment on the difficulty, as a HSMP holder, on securing a job in the UK?

Can anyone recommend a reliable and efficient employment agency to me?

Thanks for any advice.

Timing

Does anyone know what when I apply for Indenfinite leave to remain under HSMP, when is the start date for the five year period? Is it the start date of my EC, or the date when I actually arrive to the UK? I have my EC valid from 1Apr 2007. But due to my current employment, I may not be able to go to...

This is an extract copied from UK visa. "Who can appeal? For some types of application, there is a right of appeal when a visa is refused. These are the most common. I think birth certificate is not an issue because they know your age from your passport. From your response, it seems that they suspect misrepresentation on your part. There is little you can do because the Embassy has complete discretion regarding visa matters. You do not actually have a right to a...

HSMP QUESTIONS

To president: The covering letter should be written with respect to your specific circumstance so I don't think the letter for others would be helpful to you. Moreover, I advise you don't focus too much on the covering letter because the MOST important factors are how many points you can get. So do ...

Thanks for the replies. I have read the FLR form and think that the period of EC is actually the date of your leave to stay in the UK under HSMP. HSMP approval letter valids for 6 months from the date of issue. Within that 6 months, you may apply for an EC. THe start dat of the EC, however, is what ...

HSMP questions

I along with my unmarried partner have just received EC for HSMP. It's from Apr 07 to Apr 09. Now I have several questions: 1. May I engage in both full time employment and personal business in order to claim "past earnings" points during extension? The new guide only states either one, but does not...

Timing enquiry

Dear all, Does the five year countdown starts from the date of approval notice or the day of the EC? Assuming that the countdown starts from the date the EC is stamped, the rules state that in order to get an Indefinite leave, I must spend a continuous period of five yeas in the UK. So unless I ente...

Same Question

I have the same type of question, but this time involving Indefinite Leave and extension. The rules state that in order to get an Indefinite leave, I must spend a continuous period of five yeas in the UK. So unless I enter the UK under HSMP the day I receive the EC, it is impossible to gain that ful...

If I cannot find a job in the UK in my profession, will I be denied extension? 2. If I cannot get suffi...
