Re: Citizenship applications from Northern Ireland

According to the new guidance notes with the citizenship application, applicants from Northern Ireland need to send proof of lawful residence (visas). "Where the residency is in Northern Ireland, evidence must be given of being lawfully resident in that jurisdiction for the period of 1 year immediat...

Re: Citizenship applications from Northern Ireland

Understood, thanks for the explanation. As a matter of fact, I do not think I personally have any issues with residence permits (or at least I didn't until I read crisbella218's post). I wonder if that loophole still works, e.g. a British citizen with another EU passport bringing the non-EEA spouse...

Re: Citizenship applications from Northern Ireland

Hi esrimve5, Regarding sending the PSNI check, you're absolutely right, it appears nowhere in the guidance notes or on the INIS website. A year or two ago, there was another poster on here (I can't remember the name) that written that she was advised by a solicitor to do so as a time-saving measure....

Re: Irish Spouse citizenship application from Northern Irela

On the part of the application that deals with the online residency checker, simply write "not applicable; reside in Northern Ireland." That's what I was advised to do, and there were no issues. Regarding the PSNI check, I don't think it's required to send it off with the application, bit it saves a...

Re: 2016 Citizenship Approvals

Any one know of any changes where someone is applying for Irish citizenship as the spouse of an Irish person living in Northern Ireland? No, I don't think there are any changes. Though, I would make sure you have a current UK visa/EEA residence card when you apply, and that there is plenty of time ...

Re: 2016 Citizenship Approvals

You don't need to send your current/old passport for getting Irish passport (for first time for new Irish citizens). Current processing time for Irish passport is average 12 days The paperwork I got at the ceremony in December said to send in your passport with the Irish passport application. It sp...

Re: 2015 Citizenship Approvals

Is that my wrong impression or does this wave of approvals seems to be rather "short" compared to the previous ones before the big ceremonies? It does sort of seem that way. Though, maybe it's partly because there were quite a few people who got approvals before the October ceremony, but were not i...

Re: 2015 Citizenship Approvals

Belfastni, there is a poster on this thread (a few pages back) that applied from NI and has been approved. Application was in Sept 2014 and approval was May/June 2015. He had the ceremony in July. So, don't give up hope! I've applied from the north also, but I only applied in May 2015, so no timelin...

Re: citizenship through marriage - northern ireland

My friend had a 5 year EU residence card, so he submitted that along with the proofs of address, etc. It's hard to say if they will ask for a visa or residence card, but my guess would be that they would want to see something. My status was a bit complicated. I originally had a 5 year EU residence c...

Re: citizenship through marriage - northern ireland

I'm in Northern Ireland also. I sent my application for Irish citizenship off at the end of May and am waiting for a result. A friend of mine applied in September 2014 (also from NI) and he just attended the citizenship ceremony last month.

Re: Need help understanding FTT decision

He had been working for 5 years at the same job here in Northern Ireland, from Oct 2004 to Nov 2009, and then was made redundant. He was on JSA for six or seven months after that, and then Carer's allowance as our sons carer from then until now. My residence card was from 2007-2012. In the late 90's...

Need help understanding FTT decision

I had my FTT hearing regarding EEA4 refusal two weeks ago, and I received the determination today, which was that the appeal was dismissed. My solicitor is on vacation, so I can't ask him for clarification and I'm a bit confused. It was dismissed on the ground that for about a year and a half, my EU...

Applying for Naturalization from Northern Ireland

I'm applying from Northern Ireland based on marriage to an Irish citizen. The application is almost complete. I'm stuck on the Residency Checker. It says on the form that this must be completed online, and a print out of it must be submitted with the application. However, where it asks to list previ...

Long wait for PR appeal date?

Hey all, My PR application was refused in September 2013 (after a year of waiting for the decision), and I immediately put in for an appeal to the FTT. Since then, it's been pretty much radio silence. I've still not received a hearing date. I call the tribunal service every few weeks and I am always...

Re: McCarthy Ruling advice

Another option to consider...if you and your spouse have been married for at least three years (and living in Ireland for at least three years) then your spouse would be eligible to apply for Irish citizenship.

Re: EEA2 Appeal Timelines - ONLY 1 TOPIC - UpToDate

Hey, just updating this. Not much of an update on my end :( I'm STILL waiting for a hearing date! I called the Tribunal Service today, and I was told that my paperwork was in Glasgow, because they apparently do the admin stuff for Belfast. Still no date listed, and she did concede that it did seem t...
