No I think they will pass it as that is what they were elected to do. What he was saying was they have to pass it by parliament and, he doesn't knw if 31,000 will be the actualy starting point. I'm just concerned about people who have been here and are looking to settle. They shouldn't have the carp...

So, is the "cap" system going to be abolished then

Ok, from what I'm reading the government is saying that not only numbers matter, but quality of immigrants and how well they contribute. So am I correct in thinking that maybe the UK is about to do away with the cap system and bring in an even tougher system? I mean, from what I've read, they govern...

I don't think they need to change the settlement rules. I think too many people already know before accepting a job in the UK that their stay in the UK is unstable. Who wants to walk around and invest in a home or car or what have you with your heart in your throat and egg shells under your feet all...

Also, does Damian Green know what he is talking about anyway? He said that high earners will be exempt from the labour market test. Well, they already are exempt and also, they are exempt from the cap as well. Any job over the threshold of 150,000 is automatically exempt from having to be passed by ...

Well basically, that was the idea of the old Tier 1 General, where people would come in and work at a high paid job without it having to pass the labour market test. Also, I thought, high earners were already exempt from the labour market test and cap. So what is Damian Green on about now?

What about the "resident labour market test being eased for high earners". What are they on about there? Does that mean that all jobs over the salary of 31,000 are exempt from the resident labour market test or only certain jobs that will be making a contribution. Surely if it was all jobs over 31,0...

Resident Labour Market Test to be lifted for high earners?

Ok, Damian Green said that the RLMT would be lifted for high earners. I thought it already had been lifted for people earning £150.000 or more? And they are exempt from the cap? So, obviously, they are returning to the old Tier 1 General system that they scrapped two years ago?

I think the government has made a mockery of itself (Labour and Tories). I understand the need to tighten the criteria but you don't invite or allow people in and then chew them up and spit them out. This is like inviting a friend over for a meal, deciding at the last minute you don't want their com...

Guess what! My ILR inside my pasport arrived today. It was approved on the 17th January and arrived today. I applied on the 5 September and received my acknowledgement letter on the 9th. This really made my day. I was a Set O applicant based on Tier 2 workpermit. So, apparently, if you applied in Se...

What scares me is that the person in the above post said they were working on his case but when his MP checked into it, nothing else has been done and that they needed to trace the application. Is it likely that the HO would lose an application? As for me, I've heard nothing and I applied in Sept. S...

My place of employment does not have a letter box. So, what if my "goods" are delivered on the weekend and my school is closed. There would be no way to leave a "sorry we missed you" card. It would go back to the post office but would they try and re-deliver it? I had it delivered to the school I wo...

Hey, absolutely. Also, I've contact my MP and hopefully he will get involved. There is no sense in them taking this long when I've been over here for more than six years, paid taxes, and paid this outrageous fee for my ILR.

I sent in my ILR application on the 5 September and still haven't received my passport back yet. Could this be why it is taking it so long (because a caseworker is having to investigate it)? Or, would I have known by now if this was a problem. Remember, the increase in 2007 was not queried by casewo...

HELP!!! Will increase from 19k to 23k in 2007 affect ILR?

Panic Would this be a substantial increase that my employer needed to let the HO know about back in 07. They increased my salary due to me getting more responsibiliteis (it wasn't a promotion). They've never queried it when I've extended my work visas. This increase from 07 has caused my salary to b...

So, which "others" would be sent to senior caseworkers? Mine is Set O, so is that pretty much straight forward? It does seem though that they are processing lots of applications sent in August. So, maybe Septembers aer just around the corner.

Hey, thanks for adding me to the list of people waiting but why did you put me in the unsorted group. I am a section O (Work permit/Tier 2) who is still waiting for my application to be approved. I applied on the 5 September. Now, why the heck is it taking so long for our application to be approved?...

It might be where my place of employment gave me a loan to help pay for my extension to my work permit when I had it extended in June 2009. They had me pay the money back by taking it out of my salary. Will this hurt my chances of getting indefinite leave to remain?

2009-10 Salary on P60 is lower than work permit amount

On my 2009-10 P60, it said that I made £27709 for the year. However, my work permit letter and stamp, as well as my contact states that my salary is £28085. I don't know what has happened. My pay in the bannk is consistent. Grated this is only 377 pounds difference. Since then, I had another extensi...

What if my salary decreased from current £35,000 to £31,00

Would my employer have to notify the UKBA and would I need to go through another labour market test and change of employment procedure? I thought there were cases where if the salary didn't change too much or more than 30 percent, there would be no need for a change of employment application. This w...

Applied for ILR on 5. Did I have to supply all P60s

I sent in the letter from my employer stating that I had been working there for five years, and what my current salary is,and that I was still needed. IT also said for them to contact my employer should there be further questions. I also supplied my last P60, my last 3 pay stubs, Life in UK test, an...

Could it be maybe that my employer from sept 05 to Oct 05 and from Jan 06 to June was an agency? I was paid by them but stationed at school number one and my second job. In June 06, my current employer decided to take me on as "their staff". My P60 from 05 to 06 states that my employer was my agency.

Worked for six months without FLR from Jan to July 2006

Ok, I originally came to the UK on a work permit and Entrance Clearance from my Embassy in Sept 05 to take a job at a school. The job ended in October 06 and I returned to the US. However, three months later, I returned to the UK because I had another job offer. The Home Office help desk in Dec 05 a...

No, no problem. I just want the caseworker to have every evidence that I've been working in the UK for five years non stop and at the same job. My employment letter stated this as well. I sent them my last P60 and didn't know if they needed all of them for every single year I've been here. Just curi...
