HSMP extension...

I've been reading up on it all as I want to make sure i've covered all bases... So if I want to extend my HSMP I must qualify under the Tier 1 General scheme extension, is that right? How long will they extend for? My HSMP was 2 years originally. Do I need to send in all evidence again, or do they a...

Both. Basically SAP is generally one of those stronger areas, however at the moment people, regardless of speciality, are losing their jobs, this includes SAP people. Nationality doesn't make a difference, but UK experience, degree's and a UK education do. If you have 5 yrs UK experience working in ...

See the key here is that you are VERY experienced in your field and very experienced in your industry. Therefore getting a job won't be anywhere near as hard for you with UK experience as it will be for new arrivals.

No. You won't get anywhere, don't bother. I'd say with only 5yrs experience that 45k is HIGHLY optimistic. If you were looking at 25-30k max maybe you'd get a job at the moment. I doubt it though. Contract wise if you are looking at 200/day then you might be considered for some roles. But the realit...

No, it's not too late. Because these jobs are outsourced unless you are truely a unique specialist usually. In the UK at least. Europe would be better, even then you'll have a hard time finding a role and I highly doubt you'll get a role here as there's people out here with huge amounts of specialis...

And no offence to you specifically - but have you read the news lately? Things here aren't easy, and if you had bothered to search you'd know that 2.5yrs in something isn't enough in the UK. Unless it's the latest greatest technology that has only just come out, you might as well forget it. If you h...

Especially the financial market. Realistically the financial market is a LONG way off recovering. I wouldn't come at all to be honest. Getting a job is hard for people who've got UK experience and have 5+ years experience....

I wouldn't recommend it!

Not really, no.... I get your point, but being in IT in banking is the same as IT anywhere. Then again, there's business analysts, project managers, team leaders, customer service roles, etc. There's a small number of roles that don't translate into other jobs, like investment banking forecaster... ...

Are you honestly being serious? Where do you think all the financial people will go? Everyone knows wages are lower in telco too. The market has PLENTY of telco workers, but not enough of them have lots of years experience. And it's also important in telco to have uk experience, so you can understan...

No where at the moment. Possibly best to stay whereever you are and work for another 4 months.Maybe after xmas, if you are lucky, the market will have recovered. IT is taking a massive hit at the moment. Unless you've got 10 years experience in certain specialised areas, then you won't get a job, be...

Nothing illegal at all. It happens with every company that supplies services out, but it's up to the company themselves to choose to listen to the rules... They won't be 'all over the uk' either, sure they might have their hands in a lot of pockets, but that's the way it goes, it's real world compan...

August is well and truely dead for jobs... Testing is very slow at the moment, June was OK, but July was quiet too. Hopefully it picks up in September, but the chance of getting a job in August in testing is low. In London you have to have lots of finance experience, because most roles are finance. ...

Leaving permanent roles so soon is highly frowned upon. Obviously you can give them reasons why, etc, but you'll be forever explaining yourself and 'not liking' an environment isn't a good excuse because the next employer will be thinking 'what, will you leave if you don't like it here too?'... Some...

Sorry vnvijay, please start a new thread rather than hijacking this one. To be honest, you'll have to look at the actual contract wording itself, that will vary the options. The way it's worded 'minimum of 12mths' would mean you have to work a minimum of 12mths, then after that it would be a 1mth notice period. If you can think of some inventive way to get out of it, you...

The deal is that at the moment the market is overrun by out of work testers with substantial amounts of skill, or at least their CV's say that... Try and build up more skills.... Having only siebel and QTP means you are limited in skills, in reality. Having more skills, like oracle SQL, SQL server, billing, CRM, etc will help you get a job as it'll prove that you have the necessary ability to take on anything and do anything. Generally if you...

Got EC 'Sticker' and questions...

Well, I finally have everything done! All approved. Funny thing is that I don't have a 'stamp' on the passport it's a 1 page sticker with my photo on it and all! 2 questions: It doesn't say "Allowed to work" or anything on it - should it? It just has "Highly Skilled Migrant Programme" or "Highly Ski...
