Update: My wife and I took the route via Northern Ireland at the end. Car from Dublin to Larne and then ferry to Cairnryan in Scotland. We showed our passports to the lady at counter selling ferry tickets. She said she didnt need those, only our names, and that was it - there were no checks at all n...

It is worth reading through http://eumovement.wordpress.com/2010/08/04/no-visa-but-still-want-to-travel/ It outlines your wife's legal right to enter even if some body claims she needs a visa. Yeah, that site was my starting point. I have prepared a pack with Article 5, MRAX vs Belgium, Regulation ...

i assume since you lived in ireland, you used the singh route? ukba staff must give you every reasonable chance to provide documentation... if this means she wait at the port, whilst you drive home to collect documents (which i assume are actually with Euro Liverpool?) then they must check the docu...

Interesting. I travelled the same route in 2007 and I think I had to show my passport. Well, we might give it a try.

Getting my wife back home to London

My wife (who is the non-EEA national and a visa national) is currently in Dublin and has no family permit or visa for the UK. She holds a EUFAM Stamp 4 for Ireland as we used to live there, and a COA for the UK - her EEA2 application made on 20th Nov 2012 is pending. Now the problem is, how does she...

My non-EEA wife tried Nationwide today and they opened an account for her without any problems. And that was without any UK driving license, just with a passport and a council tax bill.

Thanks Salem. We have bills in both our names - got a council tax bill already when she was here on a tourist visa, so that's indeed not a problem. We'll try Nationwide then! Off topic, but I had no idea a passport was necessary to go to Belfast. Thought that would be domestic. I wonder if my wife c...

Opening bank account while EEA2 pending

My wife (who is the non-EEA national) tried to open a UK bank account today with Halifax. She was denied as she did not yet have a residence card. The bank representative said that she would need to have a residence card in the passport. As we have received our passorts back, I assume my wife will g...

Congrats, Erik!! Which email address did you send your request to? And did you ask for your passports simply, or did you fill in the form? Thanks! Thanks! I used LiverpoolEuro.PassportReturns@UKBA.gsi.gov.uk , and I used the form. I had actually asked for them back already in the original EEA2 appl...

Good news, I received the passports back today! I had requested them by email on 4/12/12. Quite a surprise actually - I was expecting it to take much longer, and ruin our Christmas trip to Sweden. _________________ EEA2 Application sent: 20/11/2012 Received by UKBA: 21/11/2012 COA received: 27/11/20...

The immigration lawyers told me yesterday to expect the passports today. I honestly did not expect them until Monday, as Saturday delivery would have meant the UKBA paying extra. Well, they did!! That's fantastic! I requested the passports back on 4/12/12 for a trip for christmas. Might go the lawy...

Thanks flipper77! One last question: In the form I see: "Home office (HO) reference or fee reference* – Nationality only" There is no Home Office reference on the COA we received. Ok, thanks Ben. On the 31st of July we should have all* papers ready (EU3 supporting docs for 5 years is a nightmare - the citizenship application felt easier) , and my wife will file the EU3 application. Then on the 8th August her EUFAM Stamp 4 expires, and she'll go to INIS at Burgh Quay to try an...

Form EU1 or EU3?

Hi, I'm an EU citizen (Sweden) and my wife is non EU. We've been living in Ireland since 2006, and my wife holds an EU FAM Stamp 4 GNIB Card which expires in the beginning August. My wife applied for Irish citizenship based on 5 years residency in June. I thought the renewal of my wife's EU FAM Stam...

Yeah, I tried, but Im not sure what to fill in prior to 17 Aug 2007 (when my wife got Stamp 4). In residence calculator, in the stamp menu one can choose from 1-6 and A,C or D. Is D the same as visa type D, and if yes, is it the dates on the entry stamp at Dublin airport that count, or the validity ...

Start point for reckonable residence

Hi all, Im Swedish and my wife is a non-EU citizen. My wife came to Ireland for the first time on the 7th December 2006 on a type D visa as spouse of EU citizen. She has lived in Ireland since this date with no trip outside Ireland longer than three months (tons of short ones though). On the 17th Au...

It's only technically a transit if one never leaves the international zone in an airport.

Our case is really a short stay since it's involves going from Charles de Gaulle Airport to Orly. Actually, even going between the two CdG terminals is not a transit.

Re: Non EU spouse traveling alone to Schengen

I suppose you got that information from the Dublin embassy. The London embassy would tell you the exact opposite. Yes indeed. Guess the French inconsistency worked in our favor this time. Anyhow, now it looks like I won't be able to make the trip, but my wife still needs to go. My worry is that sin...

Re: Decision letter received today

can you please let us know on how your wife was able to apply for a re-entry visa without a GNIB registration number? thanks! I think we were very lucky, and it was back in December 06, when things were a bit leaner. We simply said that we wanted to go and celebrate christmas in Sweden with my fami...

Victory at last

Today my wife finally got her EU fam 4 residency card and stamp in the passport. At first they refused to give it because she had two valid passports, one expiring in 2010 and another one expiring in Sep 07. They told us to go to her embassy and have the old one cancelled. When we said that Ivory Co...
