Re: Naturalisation - Evidence of lawful residence where PR was acquired in 2007

Too often reading too much between the lines there is confusion and stress. I was told here various methods to prove 5 yrs residence in the UK and I struggled to garner documents some at a cost. When I went for NRS all they took were copies of 5 P60s. ~Saying the whole pile of documents is not requi...

Re: Naturalisation - Evidence of lawful residence where PR was acquired in 2007

Dear Christine, I would not be concerned about 2007 until 2013. You got your PR confirmed in 2017. It means you were definitely PR from 2013. Even if it lapsed in the interim it does not matter as they consider you PR at the time of application in 2017. So go ahead, present documents proving residen...

Re: Baffled! Right Of Abode (ROA) with UK-born grandmother

I've been looking through all the various UK citizenship and immigration legislation - including lots of advice on this forum and elsewhere - but I'm still baffled with finding the answer to my query about who is entitled to Right to Abode (ROA) in the UK. Here are the facts of the case in brief: -...

Is the father named on the birth certificate?

A DNA test might be another option.
Only for my information. Isnt it mandatory for a birth certificate to have father's name as the child already had obtained a family visit visa before?

Re: British passport overseas problem

Yes, they have asked for the documents.. and I was asking if we could provide with something else, like a maternity test or some written document from the doctor. It's nearly impossible to find the documents they have asked for especially antenatal and discharge summary as the hospital has been shu...

Re: Absence of more than 90 days

As people here are trying to help they will only inform what the guidance says. The moderator said 100-110 is disregarded. NOBODY can tell you precisely how many days 98 or 100 or 110 days will be ignored. It is discretionary and that itself means it depends on the case worker. Its best you don't go...

Re: Legal protection insurance in case citizenship application gets denied

@CR001: Okay, thank you very much! It's good to know at least a reason should be provided by HO. In the past two years you can read many stories about people who get declined without any obvious reason or any stated reason from HO. It seems like it can be a case of luck, depends on the officer that...

Re: Child born abroad to EU settled parents

Thanks for the reply, which I have found very useful and I have now become a british citizen. I am here again because my daughter is two year old, born in Italy. I have just become british and the dad has permanent residence. Would the child need to apply for permanent residence first, or we can sk...

Re: British Citizenship

My dad was born in the U.K. of a mom who was British and a Dad who was Irish. My dad was taken from England as an infant and has lived in the U.S. ever since. Some of my siblings are interested in becoming a citizen of England. Although we do NOT have my dad's birth certificate we do have my grandm...

Re: English Requirement

Oh dear:-( It's ridiculous i did it in 2016.... Thanks a lot. Gabriel Its no use being frustrated about implementation of rules. It may not be logical but rules are enforced according to the decisions of the powers that be. I know its costs £150 but there is an alternative. Its better to just go on...

Re: Submit application (Brent Council)

I would assume you have confirmed receipt by HO as you would have been provided with the tracking number. If it is with HO then there is no need to panic. HO or other govt depts are no so inefficient that they lose documents. Things are taking time due to the spurt in applications from EU citizens. ...

I'm working on getting my first UK passport as I have citizenship through my mother (I was born in 1988 in the US), who is a citizen other than by descent. As I have been filling out the application it states that I will need to send in my US passport along with my other documents. Will it be an is...

Re: BRP Returned - Lost in Post

Thanks, guys for the reassurance. Much appreciated. I would suggest you fill out a form obtained from the Post office which is a claim for compensation. In that you have to fill out details of what the letter contained. They will then pay you a nominal sum but it will be evidence you made efforts t...

How can a regular reader who feels all British and has read a few previous posts not know the application process and the options av...
