Re: BRP number not written above immigration officer stamp

Happened to me, purely as I was chatting to the officer and he forgot. I called the airport team the next day and they said it was fine.

Re: ILR and employer absence letters

Hi all, I am filling in the booking form to sit Life in the UK test. Stuck on town or city of birth! My passport states as place of birth: USSR in English, but only X Region in Russian My BRP states X Region as they seemed to have translated the Russian text from my passport. I was born in town Y lo...

Yes you are tax resident if you work in the UK and are present for over 6 months in the year.

Tier 2 to ILR query

Hi all, I switched from Tier 4 to Tier 2 in country in August 2016. My Tier 2 was issued 24.08.16 and until then I was working for the college where I was a student (much less than 20 hrs a week etc). I recently saw that the leaving date for that job was 30.08.16, so technically I was employed elsew...

Poor quality passport stamp?

I've just checked my passport and a recent entry stamp is very poor quality: the ink is super faint and the year looks like 2018, not 2019! Obviously am worried about potential implications for ILR. Is this likely to raise any issues? Shall I just keep the ticket and boarding pass or go back to the ...

Council Tax single occupancy discount and Tier 2

Hi all,

Just checking whether those with No Recourse... are allowed to claim the single occupancy discount for council tax? I think yes, but want to double check.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Admin error on HO side or not ?

Yes that seems like an error, you are eligible to be on Tier 2 until 13/03/2022.

Write to them, there's no harm in asking.

Re: Admin error on HO side or not ?

What were the dates for both of your COSs and the dates on the BRPs? I got 6 years exactly for example, moving from Tier 4 to Tier 2 within the UK. First Tier 2 issued 24.08.16, second finishing on 24.08.22, though my second COS was until 23.08.22. I assume they gave that one extra day as they could...

Re: Time Spent Outside UK - Holiday?

If you're basing your application on a 5 year category, you only need to account for 5 years of absences.

Re: Tier 2 to ILR issue

If it is an annual increment there is no need to report via SMS.

It sounds like yours was a performance based increase though, not an annual increment.

Re: Time Spent Outside UK - Holiday?

I am quite sure the "not the same amount..." option refers to fluctuating income. So someone might get 1500£ one month and 2500£ the next. It probably doesn't mean annual rises.

Re: Absence wording

Yes and no. I was working on the laptop while abroad with my family. My employer therefore allowed me not to take annual leave for this short trip.

I am wondering if they should add "working remotely" or whether their wording is enough?

Absence wording

Hi all, I wanted to see what others think. My former employer has given me an absence letter with two types of absences: work-related and annual leave. One of my absences was paid and authorised absence while working remotely abroad (due to family bereveamenet). It was only 6 full days and I plan to...

Re: Truncated name on BRP issue: please advise

They scan the card at the border so presumably will see the full name.

To be safe, if their response was in email format, carry that with you.
